LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Greater Rochester Chamber of
Commerce upon the occasion of its renaming and renewed commitment to the
City of Rochester

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those organizations which substantially contribute to
the economic vitality of their communities and the entire Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce upon the occasion of its
renaming and renewed commitment to the City of Rochester to be cele-
brated on Thursday, March 3, 2016; and
WHEREAS, The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, formerly the
Rochester Business Alliance was established in 1887, under the guidance
of many local business leaders, including George Eastman, Hulbert
Warner, Clinton Rogers and John Jacob Bausch; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the years, the Greater Rochester Chamber of
Commerce has worked tirelessly to serve, promote, and advocate for the
best interests of its members in order to secure economic prosperity for
the Finger Lakes Region; and
WHEREAS, Today, this esteemed nonprofit organization continues to help
its members grow and prosper, as well as create jobs while acting as a
connector for business to business relationships, and keeping investment
in the Finger Lakes Region and New York State; and
WHEREAS, Under the illustrious guidance of President and CEO Robert
Duffy, the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce will continue to serve
as its area's leading resource for advocacy and the promotion of econom-
ic growth for many years to come; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce is
in direct correlation to the efforts of its members and staff, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of this organization and the busi-
ness community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional organization and its contributions to the local
and State economies, fully confident it will continue to enjoy the spar-
kling success it has experienced thus far under its new name; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce upon the occasion of
its renaming and renewed commitment to the City of Rochester; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert Duffy, President and CEO, the Greater Rochester Cham-
ber of Commerce.
