LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Italo J. Vacchio upon the occasion of
his retirement after many years of distinguished public service
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished citizens who demonstrate great courage and diligence
in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communi-
ties and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Italo J. Vacchio upon the occasion of his retirement after many years of
distinguished public service; this momentous occasion will be celebrated
on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at the Westbury Manor, Westbury, New
York; and
WHEREAS, For more than five decades, Italo J. Vacchio rendered faith-
ful, conscientious and valuable service to his community; and
WHEREAS, Italo J. Vacchio, affectionately known as Tal, began his
illustrious career with the Westbury Water District as a Water Servicer,
before becoming a Water Plant Operator; he was appointed Assistant
Superintendent of the District in 1974, and six years later, promoted to
Superintendent; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, in 2002 he became the Superintendent of the Port
Washington Water District, the esteemed position from which he will
retire after 15 years of steadfast dedication; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as Superintendent of the Port Washington
Water District, Italo J. Vacchio served with loyalty, honor and
distinction; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Italo J. Vacchio was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; he has
truly earned the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that demon-
strated by Italo J. Vacchio over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication
to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Italo J. Vacchio upon the occasion of his retirement after many
years of distinguished public service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Italo J. Vacchio.
