LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Quido Ramire upon the occasion of
celebrating his 100th Birthday

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commemorate and
recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens of this great Nation
and Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Quido Ramire of Olean, New York, upon the occasion of celebrating
his 100th Birthday on March 24, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Quido Ramire was born at home in North Olean on March 24,
1916, to Anthony Ramire and Antionette DeCerdo; he attended the Olean
City School District and has lived his whole life in the community; and
WHEREAS, Quido Ramire served his nation honorably as a medic in the
United States Army during World War II; and
WHEREAS, He married his wife, Louise, on June 12,1937, and the couple
shared a loving marriage for 71 years; they were blessed with four chil-
dren, MaryAnn, Patricia, Anthony and David; today, Quido Ramire is a
loving grandfather of nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Always an industrious man, Quido Ramire worked at Sacony
Vacuum; he worked at the Thatcher Glass Plant for seven years and was
employed by Clark Brothers for 32 years as a Pattern Maker; and
WHEREAS, Quido Ramire is a sports legend in the Greater Olean Area; he
played fast pitch softball for Thatcher and Clark Brothers; he played
basketball for Sacony Vacuum and the Christopher Columbus Lodge; he was
a coach for the Olean Little League and an umpire for the Little League,
high school and St. Bonaventure University; he also coached basketball
for the Olean City Championships, and was a trainer for St. John's Midg-
et League Football and Archbishop Walsh Football; and
WHEREAS, Always an active member of the Olean community, Quido Ramire
served as a Committeeman for Ward 8 in 1938; he was later appointed as
Chairman of the Recreation Department by Mayor Schneiderman; and
WHEREAS, Quido Ramire has also been an active member of the Olean
Senior Center for 38 years, and in 2013, he was named Volunteer of the
Year; in 2015, City of Olean Mayor William J. Aiello presented Mr.
Ramire with a Key to the City; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize and honor the lives of beloved citizens who have reached a remark-
able age and who have witnessed and celebrated the innovations, cultural
developments, and awesome achievements of this country during the last
century; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Mr. Quido Ramire upon the occasion of celebrating his 100th
Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Quido Ramire.
