LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Gordon N. Zuckerman upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 11th Annual Mary G. Breslin Volun-
teer Service Award by the LaSalle School on March 8, 2016
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledges their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity
among us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Gordon N.
Zuckerman upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 11th
Annual Mary G. Breslin Volunteer Service Award by LaSalle School, to be
celebrated on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, in the Dining Room at De La Salle
Christian Brothers Academic Center, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism is an essential element of all societies; it
provides a way in which the human values of community, caring and serv-
ing can be sustained and strengthened; and
WHEREAS, For over 40 years, Gordon N. Zuckerman has held numerous
leadership roles and has been committed to various civic, religious, and
charitable as well as professional organizations; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC), Troy,
New York, Gordon N. Zuckerman earned his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry
from Union College, Schenectady, New York; and
WHEREAS, In 1970, Gordon N. Zuckerman entered the insurance industry,
and currently serves as President of Murray and Zuckerman, Inc., Sche-
nectady, New York, a nationally recognized life, health, group and
wholesale annuity brokerage firm; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable gentleman is a vital member of many educa-
tional, financial and nonprofit boards such as The Autism Society of the
Capital District, the Schenectady City Educational Foundation, Inc., and
The Foundation at HVCC; and
WHEREAS, For his steadfast commitment and generosity to his community,
Gordon N. Zuckerman has been the recipient of several awards and acco-
lades including the 2006 Humanitarian Award and the 2015 Outstanding
Philanthropist Award by HVCC, the 1999 Sidney Albert Community Service
Award by the United Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York, the 1997
Jewish Family Service Community Award, and the 1996 B'nai B'rith Youth
Service Award; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Gordon N. Zuckerman has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of a community and have shown a long
and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the recog-
nition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Gordon N. Zuckerman upon the occasion of his designation as recip-
ient of the Mary G. Breslin Volunteer Service Award by LaSalle School on
March 8, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gordon N. Zuckerman.
