LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Glen Cove Council of PTA's upon
the occasion of hosting its Annual Diamond Club Scholarship Luncheon,
and paying tribute to this year's honorees

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those individuals and organizations which are committed to
enhancing the quality of education in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Glen Cove Council of PTA's upon the occasion of hosting its Annual
Diamond Club Scholarship Luncheon, and to pay tribute to this year's
honorees; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious event will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2016,
at The Brookville Country Club, in Old Brookville, New York, to benefit
the Glen Cove Community Scholarship fund; and
WHEREAS, This year's honorees include: Chris MacDonald (Deasy School),
Mark Checola (Gribbin School), Stefanie Liptzin (Landing School), Damon
Garner (Connolly School), Maria Rivera Hlatky (Finley Middle School),
Vincent Martinez (Glen Cove High School), and Denise Reynolds (SEPTA);
and
WHEREAS, The Glen Cove Council of PTA's works with the district staff,
the Board of Education, community partners and the individual PTA units
to support the students and families of the Glen Cove City School
district and to improve the education, health and welfare of all chil-
dren and youth; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1958, the Glen Cove Community Scholarship fund
annually administers grants in the form of scholarships to deserving
Glen Cove High School seniors; and
WHEREAS, In the course of the evolving development of this Empire
State, when the ingredients of shared concern and responsive endeavor
combine in commitment to community, there emerge among the distinguished
citizens of the State of New York, certain organizations and individuals
which warrant special recognition; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions and individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought
to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the
citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Glen Cove Council of PTA's upon the occasion of hosting its
Annual Diamond Club Scholarship Luncheon, and to pay tribute to this
year's honorees; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Glen Cove Council of PTA's, and this year's honorees.
