LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Stephanie Delia, Esq. upon the occa-
sion of her designation for special recognition by the National Action
Network, West Nassau Chapter, on April 17, 2016
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie Delia has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Stephanie
Delia, Esq. upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition
by the National Action Network, West Nassau Chapter, to be celebrated at
its 3rd Annual Women's Prestigious Gala Awards Dinner held on Sunday,
April 17, 2016, at Chateau Briand Caterers in Carle Place, New York; and
WHEREAS, The National Action Network's Annual Women's Prestigious Gala
Awards Dinner recognizes outstanding individuals who demonstrate excel-
lence in their work, service and commitment to the Jewish, Nigerian,
Caribbean, Spanish, Haitian and American communities; and
WHEREAS, The West Nassau Chapter, under the able leadership of
District Chairperson, Pastor Emmanuel Asse, continues the mission of NAN
which fulfills a vital role in moving our Nation forward; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie Delia immigrated to the United States with her
parents when she was seven years old, and has made New York State her
home ever since; she became a United States citizen at an early age, yet
she has never forgotten her roots; and
WHEREAS, After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from John Jay College
of Criminal Justice and her Juris Doctor from Thomas Cooley Law School,
Stephanie Delia has become a well-respected immigration attorney prac-
ticing in the five boroughs of New York City; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie Delia's private practice, Delia Advocates, LLP, is
located in the financial district of New York City; she works with CUNY
Citizenship Now, one of the largest nonprofit immigration organizations
in the country, providing free immigration services in low-income commu-
nities throughout the tri-state area; and
WHEREAS, Knowledgeable in all areas of immigration law and passionate-
ly advocating on behalf of her clients, Stephanie Delia's expertise lies
in finding and using obscure laws and cases to find relief for her
clients where her predecessors had failed; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie Delia has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Active in her community, Stephanie Delia has given immi-
gration presentations at colleges and nonprofit organizations, including
the National Action Network; in addition, she has coordinated and
participated in several Temporary Protected Status and Naturalization
Pro Bono document assistance events as well as serving as Chief of Staff
and Counselor to the National Action Network, West Nassau Chapter; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Stephanie Delia has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Stephanie Delia has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Stephanie Delia, Esq. upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the National Action Network, West Nassau Chapter;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stephanie Delia, Esq.
