LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Geraldine Keegan upon the occasion of
being selected as Emerald of the Year by the Emerald Association of
Putnam County

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging its
esteemed residents who have distinguished themselves in their profession
and in their communities; and
WHEREAS, Geraldine Keegan will be honored as Emerald of the Year by
the Emerald Association of Putnam County during its St. Patrick's Day
Dinner Dance to be held at Vails Pavilion on March 19, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Geraldine Keegan was born in Drumshanbo, County Leitrim,
Ireland; she is the youngest of Patrick and Florence Sheerin's five
children; and
WHEREAS, Geraldine Keegan came to the United States in 1988; and
WHEREAS, Geraldine Keegan had previously met her future husband,
Michael, in Ireland in 1980; she returned to marry him at St. Patrick's
Church, Drumshanbo, County Leitrim, Ireland on August 7, 1989; and
WHEREAS, Geraldine Keegan returned to the United States with her
husband and resided in the Bronx before moving to Brewster in 1993; and
WHEREAS, Geraldine Keegan has been a dedicated aide to the elderly for
the past 15 years; and
WHEREAS, Geraldine Keegan has been a member of the Emerald Association
for 10 years; and
WHEREAS, Geraldine Keegan has been very active at the annual feis, as
well as the St. Patrick's Day Parade; and
WHEREAS, Geraldine Keegan is the proud mother of Tara, Michelle, and
Jaclyn Keegan; and
WHEREAS, Geraldine Keegan has exhibited the true spirit of the presti-
gious Emerald of the Year through her tireless dedication to the Emerald
Association of Putnam County; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Geraldine Keegan upon the occasion of being selected as Emerald of
the Year by the Emerald Association of Putnam County; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Geraldine Keegan.
