LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Daniel M. Meyers upon the occasion of
his retirement after 29 years of distinguished service to the Al Sigl
Community of Agencies
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have devoted
themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their community
and the needs of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Daniel M. Meyers upon the occasion of his retirement after 29 years of
distinguished service to the Al Sigl Community of Agencies; and
WHEREAS, Daniel M. Meyers, affectionately known as Dan, is known as a
legend throughout the city of Rochester, New York, for his exceptional
and dedicated work with non-profits organizations; since 1987, he has
served as President of the Al Sigl Community of Agencies; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1962, the Al Sigl Community of Agencies provides
high-quality, cost-effective real estate and business services to a
growing array of organizations which serve children and adults with
disabilities and special needs; and
WHEREAS, Under Dan M. Meyers' luminous management, Al Sigl has more
than tripled in physical size; the agencies it serves meet the needs of
more than four times the number of adults and children with disabilities
and special needs than it did when he started in 1987; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his stellar work with Al Sigl Community of
Agencies, Dan M. Meyers has held numerous leadership positions at
several corporations including President of both the Al Sigl Foundation,
Inc. and ASC/Properties, Inc.; he also served as Chairman of Center
Properties of Rochester, Inc. and ASC/Sanford Street Housing, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Dan M. Meyers was the Director of
Recreation at the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired from
1971-1973; he then helped found the Retired Senior Volunteer Program
(RSVP) at LIFESPAN; and
WHEREAS, From 1979-1983, Dan M. Meyers was the First Director for
Development at the George Eastman House, and from 1983-1987, he held the
title of Director of Capital Campaign for the Rochester Philharmonic
Orchestra; and
WHEREAS, Since 1987, Dan M. Meyers has been an enthusiastic member of
the Rochester Rotary Club, serving on its Charitable Trust Board of
Directors from 2008-2013; for many years, he has participated on the
Association of Fundraising Professionals at both the Genesee Valley and
National level; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Dan M. Meyers has devoted his time and
energies volunteering at various affiliations including the Rochester
Regional Health System Board of Directors, Rochester General Health
System Board of Directors, Rochester General Health Care Services
(Rochester General Hospital) Board of Directors, St. Bernard's School of
Theology and Ministry Board of Trustees, George Eastman House Board of
Trustees, Stewardship Council, Catholic Diocese of Rochester Executive
Committee, EquiCenter Board of Directors, Emerson Foundation Board of
Directors, Waldron Rise Foundation Board, Pathstone (former: Rural
Opportunities) Advisory Board of Directors, and the Greater Rochester
Enterprise Board, as well as Advertising Council of Rochester Board of
Directors; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, this remarkable man served as a Federal Magistrate
Judge on the Merit Selection Panel for numerous years; and
WHEREAS, Since 1996, Dan M. Meyers has been involved with the Greater
Rochester Independent Practice Association, Inc. (GRIPA); throughout his
tenure, he has held the position of Chairman and Vice Chairman and has
been a member of the Board of Directors since 1996; and
WHEREAS, For his incredible dedication to the Rochester, New York,
community Dan M. Meyers has been the recipient of numerous awards and
accolades including the 2015 Move To Include Award, by the Golisano
Foundation; the 2013 Legacy Award, by the Ad Council of Rochester; the
2013 B. Thomas Golisano Philanthropy Award, by the Rochester General
Hospital Foundation, the 2013 Distinguished Community Service Award, by
the Hearing Loss Association of America, Rochester Chapter; the 2011
Paul Harris Fellow Award, by the Rochester Rotary Club; the 2009 Presi-
dent's Medal for Service to the Rochester Community, by St. John Fisher
College; the 2006 Executive of the Year, by Greater Rochester Awards;
the 2005 Honorary Doctor of Laws, by Nazareth College of Rochester; the
2001 Outstanding Fund Raising Executive Award, by the International
Association of Fundraising Professionals; the 2001 Distinguished Commu-
nity Service Award, by the Masonic Service Bureau; the 2001 Edward Mott
Moore Award, by the Monroe County Medical Society; the 2001 Lantern
Award, by the Advertising Council of Rochester; the 1999 First Robert A.
Clinger Professional Fund Raising Executive Award, by the Association of
Fundraising Professionals, Genesee Valley Chapter; and the 1988 First
Bishop James E. Kearney Award for Outstanding Alumnus, by St. John Fish-
er College; as well as the 1973 Outstanding Young Man of America Award;
and
WHEREAS, For the past 29 years, Daniel M. Meyers rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to not only the Al Sigl Community of
Agencies but also the entire Rochester community, earning the admira-
tion, esteem and affection of his colleagues and neighbors; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as President, Daniel M. Meyers served with
loyalty, honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen sense of duty
and always showed a unique grasp of human problems in his official acts;
and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Daniel M. Meyers has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to

commend Daniel M. Meyers upon the occasion of his retirement after 29
years of distinguished service to the Al Sigl Community of Agencies, and
to wish him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Daniel M. Meyers.
