LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Christine Horne upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Chamber Champion Award by the Capital
Region Chamber
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Christine Horne has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Christine
Horne upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Chamber
Champion Award by the Capital Region Chamber to be celebrated at its
Annual Dinner on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at the Empire State Plaza
Convention Center in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Capital Region Chamber helps build a stronger community
by connecting its members to people, businesses and issues important to
New York's Capital Region; it provides leadership and resources to
assist 2,800 businesses and organizations throughout Albany, Schenecta-
dy, Rensselaer and Saratoga Counties and beyond; and
WHEREAS, Christine Horne is being honored for her outstanding efforts
in advancing the Capital Region Chamber's mission of helping for-profit
and nonprofit businesses of all types and sizes accomplish more together
than ever would have been possible on their own; and
WHEREAS, An integral part of General Electric (GE) for the past 27
years, Christine Horne began her career as an Engineer, and has held
leadership positions in the Commercial, Product Management and Quality
sections prior to joining the Communications Department in 2001; and
WHEREAS, During her illustrious tenure in Communications, Christine
Horne has undertaken an exciting array of responsibilities while accom-
plishing such impressive feats as building GE's first intranet, produc-
ing a Super Bowl commercial and hosting President Obama; and
WHEREAS, Since 2009, this esteemed business leader has served as both
Communications and Public Relations Manager for GE Power; during this
time, she has overseen her company's Media and Public Relations, Employ-
ee Communications and Community Affairs in New York's Capital Region;
and
WHEREAS, In addition, Christine Horne was responsible for communi-
cations across the entire Global GE Power Portfolio for Union and Indus-
trial Relations and the Global Supply Chain; she has also served as the
Corporate Communications Leader for GE's 2015 National Labor Negoti-
ations; and
WHEREAS, Christine Horne has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; she runs GE Power's worldwide volunteer
organization, and has been very active with non-profit and civic organ-
izations across the Capital Region for many years; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Christine Horne serves as Secretary for the Center
for Economic Growth, and is a member of the boards for both the Chil-
dren's Museum of Science and Technology and the Schenectady Chamber of
Commerce Foundation; she also provides exceptional leadership on several
community advisory teams and task forces; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous awards and honors, Christine Horne
has been presented with the 2007 Capital Region Woman of Achievement
Award and the 2012 Capital Region YMCA President's Award; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Bill, and their
two children, Amanda and Jason, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Christine Horne has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Christine Horne has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Christine Horne upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Chamber Champion Award by the Capital Region Chamber; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Christine Horne.
