LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Brooklyn Technical High School
Women's Varsity Volleyball Team upon the occasion of capturing the PSAL
Class A City Championship
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, The Brooklyn Technical High School Women's Varsity Volleyball
Team are the PSAL Class A City Champions; and
WHEREAS, Brooklyn Technical High School is one of the top 10 best high
schools in New York State; it is recognized as one of the finest science
and technology schools in the entire United States; and
WHEREAS, Brooklyn Technical High School's challenging curriculum and
high academic standards are the primary reasons that its student
athletes succeed on the collegiate academic level; the dedicated admin-
istration and faculty strive to teach their students that "Academics
come first"; and
WHEREAS, The 14 exceptional volleyball scholar athletes have an over-
all impressive GPA of 93.24 and 10 of their athletes ranged from 92.2 to
100.1; and
WHEREAS, The first specialized high school to capture a New York City
PSAL Class A Women's Varsity Volleyball Championship, the Brooklyn Tech-
nical High School Women's Varsity Volleyball Team had an amazing
2015-2016 volleyball season, with a 10-0 league record for the 10th
consecutive undefeated division championship, superbly guided by Head
Coach Rosanne D'Augusta; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the season, the Brooklyn Technical High School
Women's Varsity Volleyball Team were very successful in tournament play
coming in First Place in several tournaments such as the Benjamin Cardo-
zo, Francis Lewis, Seward Park Tournament; the incredible team were also
Finalists in the prestigious Brooklyn's Best Poly Prep Tournament; and
WHEREAS, In addition, several individual athletes were the recipients
of various awards and accolades for their tremendous achievements
including 2015-2016 New York 1 Scholar Athlete Award Winner Jane Lynn;
2015- 2016 Senior Exceptional Players Victoria Plonski and Chellsa
Ferdinand; 2015 Helsinki PSAL All Star Team Chellsa Ferdinand; MVP of
the tournaments Victoria Plonski (three times) and Chellsa Ferdinand;
All Tournament Cody Fung (two times) Jane Lynn and Victoria Plonski; and
Coach of Year Rosanne D'Augusta; and
WHEREAS, The Brooklyn Technical High School Women's Varsity Volleyball
Team was also named one of BROOKLYN DAILY 2015's Best in Brooklyn High
School sports by Joseph Staszewsk; of the BROOKLYN DAILY; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by this team is due in great
part to the efforts of Head Coach Rosanne D'Augusta, and Assistant Coach
Stephen Gigliello, skilled and inspirational tutors, respected for their
ability to develop potential into excellence; and
WHEREAS, The team's overall record is outstanding, and the team
members were loyally and enthusiastically supported by family, fans,
friends and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, The hallmarks of the Brooklyn Technical High School Women's
Volleyball Team, from the opening game of the season to participation in
the championship, were a sisterhood of athletic ability, of good sports-
manship, of honor and of scholarship, demonstrating that these team
players are second to none; and
WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, the team members have proven
themselves to be an unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting favor-
ably on their school; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Rosanne D'Augusta, and Assistant Coach Stephen
Gigliello have done a superb job in guiding, molding and inspiring the
team members toward their goals; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and Head Coach Rosanne D'Augusta, Assistant Coach Steph-
en Gigliello and their outstanding athletes have clearly made a contrib-
ution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their school;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Brooklyn Technical High School Women's Volleyball Team;
its members: Luanna Chan, Chellsa Ferdinand, Zoe Hockenberry, Cody Fung,
Jane Lynn, Victoria Plonski, Sarah Flynn, Haeji Hwang, Halyna Krylyuk,
Anais Mewha, Su Aray, Gabriella Kahulsky, Jessica Krupa, and Alexandra
Kusa; Head Coach Rosanne D'Augusta, and Assistant Coach Stephen Gigliel-
lo, as well as managers Benjamin Jiang, Philip Lok, Yuan Tong Luo,
Kimberly Ng, Jung Jin Park, Anna Wang and Jannine Sam on their outstand-
ing season and overall team record; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Brooklyn Technical High School Women's Volleyball Team,
its managers, Head Coach Rosanne D'Augusta, and Assistant Coach Stephen
Gigliello, and Randy J. Asher, Principal, Brooklyn Technical High
School.
