LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Eugene C. Zinni, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Eugene C. Zinni of North Tonawanda, New York, passed away on
February 25, 2016, at the age of 79; and
WHEREAS, Born on May 21, 1936, in North Tonawanda, Eugene Zinni was
the son of Joseph and Mary (DeLuca) Zinni; and
WHEREAS, As a young man, Eugene Zinni proudly served his country as a
member of the United States Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957, earning the
Good Conduct Medal; and
WHEREAS, Following the completion of his military service, Eugene
Zinni worked for Niagara County Community College, where he served as
Director of Corporate Training until his retirement in 1996; and
WHEREAS, Well-known in the Western New York community for his passion
for football, Eugene Zinni held the position of Assistant Football Coach
for the Buffalo State Bengals until 2016; he was also passionately
involved in football at the high school, college and semi-pro levels;
and
WHEREAS, Eugene C. Zinni distinguished himself in his profession and
by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
his community; he participated in numerous fundraisers and charity
events, including the Lions All Star Football Classic, and the Zinni
Classic Golf Tournament; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Eugene C. Zinni was a member of the Kensington
Lions Club, the Western New York Football Coaches Association, and the
Western New York Safety Conference, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Eugene C. Zinni's commitment to excellence, and his spirit of
humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including charita-
ble and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his parents, Eugene C. Zinni is survived by
his wife, Marlene; and their three children, Lauren (Mark), Eugene
(Miho) and Michael (Jerri); as well as his six grandchildren Emily,
Rebecca, Joshua, Tyler, Kaylyn and Michael; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Eugene C. Zinni leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Eugene C. Zinni, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Eugene C. Zinni.
