LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Roseanne W. Murphy upon the occasion of
her retirement after 26 years of distinguished service to Empire State
Development

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have devoted
themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their community
and the needs of its residents; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Roseanne W. Murphy upon the occasion of her retirement after 26 years of
distinguished service to Empire State Development, to be celebrated on
Friday, August 15, 2014, at the Lake Placid Beach House in Lake Placid,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Roseanne W. Murphy is a graduate of Utica College of Syracuse
University, and is also a Certified Economic Developer and an Economic
Development Professional; and
WHEREAS, In 1988, Roseanne W. Murphy began her career with Empire
State Development (ESD) in the organization's Regional Office Division;
her dedication and outstanding leadership abilities helped her rise
through the ranks to become Regional Director for the North Country ESD,
and Executive Director for the North Country Economic Development Coun-
cil; and
WHEREAS, For the past 26 years, this esteemed woman has rendered
faithful, conscientious and valuable service to ESD's North Country and
Mohawk Valley Regional Offices, as well as with the Mohawk Valley
Economic Development District and the Regional Planning Board; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Roseanne W. Murphy was governed by a
keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems;
and
WHEREAS, Roseanne W. Murphy has worked closely with State and local
officials on numerous worthy projects during her tenure, including the
Champlain Bridge Disaster recovery, the transition of Pfizer-Wyeth
facilities, and by helping bring the Bombardier rail car manufacturing
facility and the Nova Bus manufacturing plant to New York State; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to giving back to her community, Roseanne W. Murphy
has served as Board Member or Director for such illustrious organiza-
tions as the North Country Workforce Investment Board, the Lake Cham-
plain-Lake George Regional Development Corps., CITEC, the Northeastern
Developers Association, and numerous others; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her many years of service, Roseanne W. Murphy
earned the admiration, esteem and affection of her colleagues; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Roseanne W. Murphy upon the occasion of her retirement after 26
years of distinguished service to Empire State Development; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Roseanne W. Murphy.
