LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending William H. Schuster III upon the occa-
sion of his designation for special tribute by the United States Postal
Service at its Veterans' Day Ceremony on November 7, 2014

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York, who
have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this country's
freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace in peace-
time, deserve a special salute; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord its long-stand-
ing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend William
H. Schuster III upon the occasion of his designation for special trib-
ute by the United States Postal Service at its Veterans' Day Ceremony
held on November 7, 2014, at the United States Postal Service's General
Mail Facility, Colonie, New York; and
WHEREAS, William H. Schuster III was born in Glens Falls, New York;
and
WHEREAS, From 1966-1969, William H. Schuster III served his country as
a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War; after he
completed heavy equipment training, he was designated the Specialty
Construction Mechanic Heavy (CME) and assigned to MCB53 in Davisville,
Rhode Island; and
WHEREAS, On January 2, 1968, William H. Schuster III was deployed to
Da Nang, South Vietnam during the beginning phases of the North Viet-
namese Tet Offensive; he was assigned to Camp Adler in Da Nang to fix
heavy equipment; he was also frequently assigned support missions at
other bases throughout the Northern Quang Tri province; and
WHEREAS, William H. Schuster III was discharged from the United States
Navy on March 19, 1969; he was awarded numerous commendations, cita-
tions, service medals and a field promotion; and
WHEREAS, After his military service, William H. Schuster III passed
the Post Office Mechanic exam; he held the position of Mechanic at the
Staten Island, New York Post Office; and in 1986 William H. Schuster III
transferred to the Albany, New York, Vehicle Maintenance Facility (VMF);
and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his loving wife of 38 years,
Jean, and his children, Pat and William Jr., all of whom feel privileged
to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend those
who have served in times of active conflict, as well as those who have
served in times of peace; and
WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which these men and women served their country, and must recognize
that no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who gave their
lives for their beloved Nation and to those who continue to be missing
in action; and
WHEREAS, Having exhibited their patriotism both at home and abroad,
these men and women demonstrated their love for their country and merit
forevermore, the highest respect of their State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended and
thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and for
their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend William H. Schuster III upon the occasion of his designation for
special tribute by the United States Postal Service at its Veterans' Day
Ceremony on November 7, 2014; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to William H. Schuster III.
