LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Grace Heptig upon the occasion of
receiving the Girl Scout Silver Award, Cadette Scouting's highest award
and Girl Scouting's second highest achievement

WHEREAS, Grace Heptig will be honored with the Girl Scout Silver Award,
Cadette Scouting's highest award and Girl Scouting's second highest
achievement, at the annual NYPENN Pathways Council's Young Woman of
Distinction Event; and
WHEREAS, Grace Heptig is a member of Girl Scouts of America Troop
41029, in Trumansburg, New York; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has cultivated in our Nation's young people the
goals of building solid values of sisterhood and the importance of work-
ing with others, stimulating both mind and body, instilling pride, and
encouraging community service and success; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has expanded the horizons of the countless
hundreds of thousands who have participated in Scouting programs which
have made Scouting an American and international institution; and
WHEREAS, For her Silver Award community service project, Grace Heptig,
and fellow Girl Scouts, Jessica Hexter and Catherine Delaney, painted a
colorful and optimistic mural with a positive message on the Russel Doig
Middle School cafeteria wall, inspiring students while they eat lunch;
and
WHEREAS, The Silver Award is earned over a two-year period; it is
tangible evidence of Grace Heptig's high character and commitment, and
is a harbinger of her future service to her community, New York State
and our Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize her achievement in earning the Girl Scout Silver Award and
wishing her success, health and happiness; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Grace Heptig.
