LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Madelyn Decker upon the occasion
of receiving the Girl Scout Silver Award, Cadette Scouting's highest
award and Girl Scouting's second highest achievement
WHEREAS, Madelyn Decker will be honored with the Girl Scout Silver
Award, Cadette Scouting's highest award and Girl Scouting's second high-
est achievement, at the annual NYPENN Pathways Council's Young Woman of
Distinction Event; and
WHEREAS, Madelyn Decker is a member of Girl Scouts of America Troop
41358, in Elmira, New York; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has cultivated in our Nation's young people the
goals of building solid values of sisterhood and the importance of work-
ing with others, stimulating both mind and body, instilling pride, and
encouraging community service and success; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has expanded the horizons of the countless
hundreds of thousands who have participated in Scouting programs which
have made Scouting an American and international institution; and
WHEREAS, For her Silver Award community service project, Madelyn Deck-
er, and her fellow Girl Scouts made care baskets full of supplies for
the homeless and less fortunate families in their community; their
project, Paying it Forward to the Community, benefitted Catholic Chari-
ties of Chemung County; and
WHEREAS, The Silver Award is earned over a two-year period; it is
tangible evidence of Madelyn Decker's high character and commitment, and
is a harbinger of her future service to her community, New York State
and our Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize her achievement in earning the Girl Scout Silver Award and
wishing her success, health and happiness; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Madelyn Decker.
