LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Adirondack High School Wrestl-
ing Team upon the occasion of capturing the New York State Public High
School Athletic Association Wrestling Division II Championship
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Adirondack High School Wrestling Team upon the occasion of capturing the
New York State Public High School Athletic Association Wrestling Divi-
sion II Championship on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at the Times Union
Center in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Adirondack High School Wildcats Varsity Wrestling Team
captured the Division II team title, the first for a local school since
2004, with a combined team score of 87 points in the final division
standings; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the Adirondack Wildcats have won a Center State
Conference League Title, as well as their third straight Section III
title; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by these exceptional young men
is due in great part to the efforts of Coach Joe Galligan, a skilled and
inspirational tutor, respected for his ability to develop potential into
excellence; and
WHEREAS, The Adirondack Wildcat's overall dual meet record of 23-1 is
outstanding, and the team was loyally and enthusiastically supported by
family, fans, friends and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, The hallmarks of the Adirondack High School Wrestling Team,
from the opening match of the season to participation in the champion-
ship, were a brotherhood of athletic ability, of good sportsmanship, of
honor and of scholarship, demonstrating that these team players are
second to none; and
WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, the Wildcats have proven them-
selves to be an unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting favorably
on their school; and
WHEREAS, Coach Joe Galligan has done a superb job in guiding, molding
and inspiring these gifted young grapplers toward their goals; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and the Adirondack Wildcats have clearly made a contrib-
ution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of Adirondack
High School; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Adirondack High School Varsity Wrestling Team; its
members: Spencer Hamilton, Keagan Case, Hunter Carr, Sam Howanietz, Zach
Kraszewski, Mike Race, Matt Tanner, Chris Webster, Sean Banks, Aiden
Croniser, Brett Gaylord, Ben Gerling, Jacob Larrivey, Stone Lutz, Bren-
dan Martin, Will Roberts, Kevin Spann, Kevin Albert, Alex Buckingham,
Will Curtiss, Travis Hastwell, Brent Kline, Remington O'Hara, Andrew
Tanner, Kyle Bush, Brandon Gaylord, Joe Hennessey, Ryan O'Rourke, Harry
Roberts, and Derek Spann; Coach Joe Galligan; Assistant Coaches Tom
O'Rourke and Rob Hennessey; and Athletic Director Cynthia Lauzon, on
their outstanding championship season and overall team record; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Adirondack High School Varsity Wrestling Team, Coach Joe
Galligan, Assistant Coaches Tom O'Rourke and Rob Hennessey, and Athletic
Director Cynthia Lauzon.
