LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Stephanie Wacholder upon the occasion of
her retirement after more than 14 years of distinguished service to the
State University of New York at Albany School of Social Welfare
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed resi-
dents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Stephanie Wacholder upon the occasion of her retirement after more than
14 years of distinguished service to the State University of New York at
Albany School of Social Welfare which was celebrated at the School's 8th
Annual Scholarship Luncheon on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at the First
Unitarian Universalist Society of Albany, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie Wacholder received a Bachelor of Science degree in
Social Work from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Master
of Science degree from Texas A&M University; and
WHEREAS, For more than 14 years, Stephanie Wacholder rendered faith-
ful, conscientious and valuable service to the State University of New
York at Albany School of Social Welfare; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure, Stephanie Wacholder was the Director of
Special Projects and Strategic Partnerships for the University at Albany
School of Social Welfare where she was responsible for developing, fund-
ing, implementing, and sustaining innovative initiatives and collab-
orations; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie Wacholder has been strategic in her capacity-build-
ing and partnership work; she has also been instrumental in helping
faculty, alumni, and doctoral students who seek her counsel on their
entrepreneurial ideas; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman has demonstrated her ingenious and
savvy skills to build public-private partnerships to advance new educa-
tional and research initiatives; in addition, she is the consummate
advocate for the School of Social Welfare, the University at Albany, and
the individuals the School serves; and
WHEREAS, Prior to joining the School of Social Welfare, Stephanie
Wacholder was the Director of State Public Programs and Government
Affairs, managing a staff of over 100 individuals for a large health
management organization; and
WHEREAS, One of the highlights of Stephanie Wacholder's career was
serving as Chief of Staff for New York State Assemblyman William B.
Hoyt, responsible for the oversight and management of legislative staff
and drafting, negotiating and effecting major budget as well as legisla-
tive initiatives; and
WHEREAS, Stephanie Wacholder officially retired at the end of 2014
after more than 14 years of service to the School of Social Welfare; in
honor of her retirement, the school announced the establishment of its
Stephanie Wacholder Endowed Scholarship; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity at the State University of New York at Albany
School of Social Welfare, Stephanie Wacholder served with loyalty, honor
and distinction, earning the admiration, esteem and affection of her
colleagues; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Stephanie Wacholder was governed by a
keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Stephanie Wacholder upon the occasion of her retirement after more
than 14 years of distinguished service to the State University of New
York at Albany School of Social Welfare; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stephanie Wacholder.
