LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Leonard K. Pero upon the occasion of his
designation as Citizen of the Year by the Evans-Brant Chamber of
Commerce on April 2, 2016
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Leonard K.
Pero upon the occasion of his designation as Citizen of the Year by the
Evans-Brant Chamber of Commerce, to be celebrated at its Annual Presi-
dent's Award and Recognition Dinner on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at
Pioneer Camp and Retreat Center, Angola, New York; and
WHEREAS, Leonard K. Pero has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the Town of Brant, Leonard K. Pero is
a true asset to his community, serving in such capacities as local busi-
nessman, farmer, coach, author, radio DJ, and postal worker; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Leonard K. Pero was past Communications Officer
and Secretary of the Brant Volunteer Fire Company for 9 years, and
served the Town of Brant as Planning Board Chairman and Councilman; and
WHEREAS, Currently serving as Town Supervisor, Leonard K. Pero has
been instrumental in moving the Town of Brant in a more positive direc-
tion; he currently sits on 18 Erie County and State committees where he
is Chairman of four and Vice Chairman of four others; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Leonard K. Pero and his
steadfast promotion of green living, the Town of Brant is recognized
environmentally as a leader; he is also credited with saving the Parish
of Our Lady National Catholic Church, where he serves as Chairman and
Lector, from closing; and
WHEREAS, The proud recipient of numerous awards and accolades, Leonard
K. Pero was honored as an inductee and recipient of the Lake Shore
Central Wall of Fame, and as Past President of the Association of Erie
County Governments two years in a row; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Leonard K. Pero has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his daughter, Amanda (Aric), who
feels privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Leonard K. Pero has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Leonard K. Pero upon the occasion of his designation as Citizen of
the Year by the Evans-Brant Chamber of Commerce on April 2, 2016; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Leonard K. Pero.
