LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Rural Transit Service upon the occa-
sion of its designation as Not-for-Profit of the Year by the Evans-Brant
Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those organizations within our midst who have
made significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals and organizations it wishes to recognize for
their valued contributions to the success and progress of society and
publicly acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic
humanity among us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Rural Trans-
it Service upon the occasion of its designation as Not-for-Profit of the
Year by the Evans-Brant Chamber of Commerce, to be celebrated at its
Annual President's Award and Recognition Dinner on Saturday, April 2,
2016, at Pioneer Camp and Retreat Center, Angola, New York; and
WHEREAS, Rural Transit Service (RTS) began in 1990 in the towns of
Evans and Brant to provide safe, reliable and affordable transportation
to senior citizens, low to moderate income and disabled residents in
need; and
WHEREAS, Rural Transit vehicles provide transportation for medical
trips, grocery shopping, banking, and other personal trips, assisting
individuals with where they need to go, in an effort to allow these
individuals the ability to maintain their independence and accomplish
their daily life routines; and
WHEREAS, With more than two and a half decades of steadfast community
service, Rural Transit Service has grown from servicing two to twenty
five municipalities in Erie County; its 130 plus volunteers are at the
core of its success, pulling together with enormous strength and
compassion, servicing those in need throughout the community by volun-
teering to drive and dispatch; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 26 year history, Rural Transit Service
has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and communities
which it serves, transporting more than 5,000 individuals on approxi-
mately 250,000 trips; and
WHEREAS, The success of Rural Transit Service is in direct correlation
to the efforts of its volunteers, whose involvement is, and always has
been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusi-
asm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on
behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Rural Transit Service upon the occasion of its designation as
Not-for-Profit of the Year by the Evans-Brant Chamber of Commerce; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rural Transit Service.
