LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Rhea McCone upon the occasion of her
selection as Deputy Marshal of the Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day
Parade on March 20, 2016

WHEREAS, St. Patrick's Day is a time for people of all nationalities and
generations to assemble and celebrate the rich culture and heritage of
the Irish people throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, A St. Patrick's Day parade reflects and records the ongoing
history of the United States and Ireland, and provides opportunity for
people of all generations to assemble in ethnic pride and pageantry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Rhea
McCone upon the occasion of her selection as Deputy Marshal of the Annu-
al Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday, March 20, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Syracuse, New York, Rhea McCone graduated
from Niagara University in 1984, and attended Adelphi University's
Paralegal Certification Program; after receiving her certificate, she
worked at a law firm in Syracuse as a Paralegal and Title Officer; and
WHEREAS, After marrying her husband, the couple relocated to Bay
Ridge, Brooklyn, in 1987; she continued to work in the Title Insurance
Industry as an Agency Representative for Commonwealth Land Title Insur-
ance Company; and
WHEREAS, In 1997, Rhea McCone joined Stewart Title Insurance Company,
holding the position of New York State Agency Manager; six years later,
she formed her own company, Harbour Abstract Agency, Ltd.; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Rhea McCone is a vital participant of Community
Board 10, an Officer of the Third Avenue Merchants and a licensed member
of the New York State Land Title Association and the Morning Money
Makers, a business networking group; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community in which she lives and works, Rhea
McCone served as President of St. Anselm's Home School Association and
volunteered with both the Youth Activities Program and with the Genesis
Program at Xaverian; in addition, she assisted with many Fontbonne Hall
Academy activities and programs; and
WHEREAS, For her steadfast and unremitting commitment to everything
she does, Rhea McCone was recognized as a Pioneer of the Third Avenue
Merchants, and was honored by The Guild for Exceptional Children, Brook-
lyn Democrats for Change, and The Advocates for the Blind and Multi-Han-
dicapped as well as Fontbonne Hall Academy; and
WHEREAS, Proud of her Irish heritage, Rhea McCone has traveled to
Ireland many times over the last 30 years; she was privileged to attend
several weddings in Belfast, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary, Mayo and Donegal
and was happy to visit her grandfather's birthplace, County Clare; and
WHEREAS, Rhea McCone is a member of the County Carlow Association and
an enthusiastic supporter of the Brooklyn Shamrocks Football Club and
Emerald Isle Immigration Center; this remarkable woman also supports the
Irish Guide Dog Association and the Emerald Association of Long Island;
and
WHEREAS, With her throughout has been her loving husband of 29 years,
Cody, and her two daughters, Ciara and Kaeleigh, all of whom feel privi-
leged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, intellect and commitment as that demonstrated by over a
lifetime of sacrifice and dedication to others; and
WHEREAS, A fitting choice for Deputy Marshal of the Annual Bay Ridge
St. Patrick's Day Parade, Rhea McCone embodies the spirit and the cher-

ished ideals and values of Irish-Americans of this great State and
Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Rhea McCone upon the occasion of her selection as Deputy Marshal
of the Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 20, 2016; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Deputy Marshal Rhea McCone.
