LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Tracy Baxter upon the occasion of his
retirement after 35 years of distinguished service to the TIMES HERALD-
RECORD

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those illustrious journalistic entities which have diligently and
consistently, year after year, recorded the history of their communities
and brought local news and news of the larger world to their readers;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Tracy Baxter upon the occasion of his retirement after 35 years of
distinguished service to the TIMES HERALD-RECORD to be celebrated
following his last official broadcast on Friday, January 30, 2015; and
WHEREAS, For the past 35 years, Tracy Baxter rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the TIMES HERALD-RECORD; and
WHEREAS, More than the calming, authoritative voice for news and
information in the Hudson Valley and Catskills, Tracy Baxter is a well-
respected journalist blessed with the ability to successfully bring
communities together; and
WHEREAS, Tracy Baxter began his illustrious reporting career more than
40 years ago as the News Director of WDLC Radio in Port Jervis, New
York; since then, he has been an integral part of the Hudson Valley news
scene; and
WHEREAS, As a reporter, Tracy Baxter has worked for several media
outlets such as WGNY Radio in Newburgh, New York, and Cable 6 Tele-
vision; he also served as Regional Editor of Multimedia for the TIMES
HERALD-RECORD; and
WHEREAS, Tracy Baxter's numerous talents are matched by the dedication
he has to the craft of reporting and to his community; and
WHEREAS, After more than three decades with the TIMES HERALD-RECORD,
Tracy Baxter served with loyalty, honor and distinction, earning the
admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Tracy Baxter has, throughout his career and purposeful life,
served his community with integrity and devotion, continuously striving
to meet the needs of his listeners through entertainment and enlight-
enment; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Tracy Baxter upon the occasion of his retirement after 35 years of
distinguished service to the TIMES HERALD-RECORD; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Tracy Baxter.
