LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Sharyn Kussin upon the occasion of her
selection by The Sisterhood of Merrick Jewish Centre as the Torah Fund
Breakfast honoree, on April 3, 2016
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Sharyn Kussin upon the occasion of her selection by The Sisterhood of
Merrick Jewish Centre as the Torah Fund Breakfast honoree, to be cele-
brated on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at the Merrick Jewish Centre, Merrick,
New York; and
WHEREAS, The Torah Fund Breakfast of The Sisterhood of the Merrick
Jewish Centre is held annually to benefit the Jewish Theological Semi-
nary in New York City, and to honor those sisters who have made contrib-
utions and commitment of themselves, and their time, to Sisterhood; and
WHEREAS, Merrick Jewish Centre Sisterhood is a dynamic, inter-genera-
tional group of women who come together in friendship; their goals are
to commit their talents and energy to the synagogue, to the community,
and to tikkun olam - healing the world; and
WHEREAS, To achieve this goal, Sisterhood sponsors programs focusing
on mitzvot, Israel, Jewish learning, and social activities which provide
an outlet for everyone's creativity, leadership, and talents; Sisterhood
allows each woman to expand and grow within a Jewish atmosphere; and
WHEREAS, Sharyn Kussin has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Sharyn Kussin has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community, with unremitting commit-
ment, ceaseless devotion and spiritual resolve, certainly have earned
the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Sharyn Kussin upon the occasion of her selection by The Sister-
hood of Merrick Jewish Centre as the Torah Fund Breakfast honoree; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sharyn Kussin.
