LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Anu Lamba upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Achievers Award by the Long Island
Center for Business & Professional Women

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Anu Lamba upon
the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Achievers Award by
the Long Island Center for Business & Professional Women, to be cele-
brated at its 37th Annual Awards Gala on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at the
Fox Hollow, Woodbury, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Long Island Center for Business & Professional Women will
honor Anu Lamba with this auspicious award in recognition of her
extraordinary achievements and significant contributions in her field,
opening doors for others to foster a rise in business, the professions,
and the community-at-large; and
WHEREAS, Owner and Operator of both Hilaire Rehab & Nursing and
Nesconsett Rehab and Nursing, Anu Lamba was born and raised in Western
India, and comes from a family of healthcare professionals; with creden-
tials in education and child psychology, she came to the United States
in 1979, and devoted 20 years to working in prestigious nursing homes
throughout Queens, New York; and
WHEREAS, Specializing in clinical and psychological services for long-
term care residents, as well as for those suffering from Multiple Scler-
osis and Alzheimer's Disease, Anu Lamba ran support groups for her
patients and their families; and
WHEREAS, With a master's degree in Social Work, and certification as a
Clinical Social Worker, Anu Lamba graduated from Wurzweiler School of
Social Work, Yeshiva University, and pursued her Licensed Nursing Home
Administrator (LNHA) credentials; and
WHEREAS, After many years of steadfast diligence and determination,
Anu Lamba acquired her first skilled-care living facility in 2006; she
went on to acquire a second, larger facility, along with two medical
model satellite programs in 2008; and
WHEREAS, Anu Lamba has a true passion for working with this very
special population, and has been instrumental in making a meaningful
impact on the quality of life for her patients and their families; and
WHEREAS, Active within her community, Anu Lamba is a member of the
Department of Health Ethics Committee and the Women Presidents' Organ-
ization; in addition, she is a Board Member of the Alzheimer's Disease
Research Center (ADRC), and Past President of International Northern
Indian Cultural Society as well as the Queens Coalition of Long-Term
Social Workers Directors; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Anu Lamba has displayed throughout
her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Anu Lamba upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Achievers Award by the Long Island Center for Business & Professional
Women; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Anu Lamba.
