LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Ron and Jill Barton upon the occasion
of their designation for special recognition by Hospice of Orange and
Sullivan Counties, Inc. on April 2, 2016
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals and businesses it wishes to recognize for
their valued contributions to the success and progress of society and
publicly acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic
humanity among us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Ron and Jill
Barton upon the occasion of their designation for special recognition by
Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc., to be celebrated at its
Showers to Flowers Spring Gala on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Anthony's
Pier 9, New Windsor, New York; and
WHEREAS, The dedicated staff and volunteers of Hospice of Orange and
Sullivan Counties strive to improve the quality of a patient's life by
offering comfort and dignity by addressing all symptoms of a disease,
with a special emphasis on controlling a patient's pain and discomfort
and also providing the emotional, social and spiritual support for the
patient and the patient's family; and
WHEREAS, Ron and Jill Barton and Barton Chevrolet Cadillac are being
recognized for their many years of support to Hospice of Orange and
Sullivan Counties, along with their unwavering dedication to helping
Hospice carry out its mission of providing comfort and support to
patients and their families when a life-limiting illness no longer
responds to cure-oriented treatments; and
WHEREAS, Since 2004, Ron Barton has been a vital member of the Hospice
of Orange and Sullivan Counties Board of Directors; in the past, he
served as its Chairman; and
WHEREAS, As owner and operator of Barton Chevrolet Cadillac, Ron
Barton has supported the building of the Kaplan Family Hospice Resi-
dence; in addition, under his luminous leadership, the business has
sponsored numerous events to benefit Hospice of Orange and Sullivan
County including the Hospice Gala, Golf Classic, and various Tree of
Life Events; and
WHEREAS, Jill Barton holds the esteemed position of Vice President of
Finance at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital; and
WHEREAS, Together, this remarkable couple are important benefactors of
Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, generously supporting the capi-
tal campaign for the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence that is now in its
10th year of providing in-patient hospice care; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of its community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Ron and Jill Barton and Barton Chev-
rolet Cadillac have stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Ron and Jill Barton have displayed
throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and associations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought
to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the
citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ron and Jill Barton for their dedicated service to Hospice of
Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc.; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ron and Jill Barton.
