LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Superintendent James W. Polansky upon
the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the Tri
Community and Youth Agency
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Superintendent James W. Polansky upon the occasion of his designation
for special recognition by the Tri Community and Youth Agency to be
celebrated at its Hall of Honor Cocktail Party and Dinner held on Thurs-
day, March 31, 2016, at the Woodbury Country Club, Woodbury, New York;
and
WHEREAS, The Tri Community and Youth Agency is a private, not-for-pro-
fit community based agency dedicated to supporting the growth and devel-
opment of youth and their families in the communities of Huntington,
South Huntington and Cold Spring Harbor; and
WHEREAS, For over 30 years, the Tri Community and Youth Agency has
provided a wide variety of educational, recreational, social, cultural,
athletic, counseling and advocacy programs, and worked closely with
businesses, school districts, law enforcement, community groups, govern-
ment agencies and other local organizations; and
WHEREAS, James W. Polansky has earned New York State teaching and
administrative certificates in the areas of Business and Distributive
Education, Mathematics, Earth Science, Chemistry, Biology, and School
Administration; and
WHEREAS, After beginning his career as an educator at the Old Westbury
School of The Holy Child in 1990, James W. Polansky accepted a position
at Syosset High School where he taught Biology, Chemistry and Environ-
mental Science, and coached multiple boys and girls interscholastic
athletic teams; and
WHEREAS, In 2000, James W. Polansky became the K-12 Director of
Science and Technology in the Oyster Bay-East Norwich School District;
two years later, he was appointed Assistant Principal of Walt Whitman
High School; and
WHEREAS, After achieving much success in his role as Assistant Princi-
pal, James W. Polansky was promoted to the position of Principal; he
continued to excel in his duties, and was recognized as the 2010 SAANYS
New York State Principal of the Year; he was also appointed Assistant
Superintendent for Personnel and District Services in the South Hunting-
ton School District; and
WHEREAS, On July 1, 2011, this esteemed educational leader became
Superintendent of the Huntington Union Free School District; since that
day, he has dedicated himself to serving the needs of his students, and
continues to work tirelessly from the early morning to late at night at
his district office; and
WHEREAS, Superintendent James W. Polansky has been called upon to
contribute his time and talents to countless civic and charitable
endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly; he currently
serves as President of Section XI, Suffolk County's interscholastic
athletic governing organization; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Superintendent James W. Polansky has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of nearly 25 years,
Alyssa, and their two children, Adam and Lauren, all of whom feel privi-
leged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of students and teachers which Superintendent James
W. Polansky has displayed throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Superintendent James W. Polansky upon the occasion of his desig-
nation for special recognition by the Tri Community and Youth Agency;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to James W. Polansky, Superintendent, Huntington Union Free
School District.
