LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Laura Mogul upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Education Foundation on April
15, 2016
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Laura Mogul
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Education Foundation, to be celebrated with a Gala on Friday, April 15,
2016, at the Village Club of Sands Point; and
WHEREAS, Laura Mogul, a 30-year resident of Port Washington, is a
founding member and the second president of the Education Foundation;
and
WHEREAS, As a member of the Education Foundation's original steering
committee, Laura Mogul was instrumental in developing the mission, oper-
ating guidelines, marketing strategy and community relationships that
nourished the fledgling organization; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Laura Mogul secured the initial funding for some
of the Education Foundation's most successful projects, including WDOT
Radio, the Slade Black Box Theatre, and the Education Support Center;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout her illustrious career, Laura Mogul has served in
several capacities including Vice President of New Business at J. Walter
Thompson and Vice President of Advertising at ABC-TV and Revlon; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering dedication to her community,
Laura Mogul served as president of the Port Washington Board of Educa-
tion, as well as on the boards of the Port Summer Show, Community Syna-
gogue and Relay for Life; and
WHEREAS, Laura Mogul is currently the Executive Director at Landmark
on Main Street, a not-for-profit community center that enhances the
spirit and enriches the lives of the communities of Port Washington and
surrounding regions; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Mark, and their
three daughters, Perri, Alexandra and Hilary, all of whom feel privi-
leged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Laura Mogul has displayed throughout
her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Laura Mogul upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Education Foundation on April 15, 2016; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Laura Mogul.
