LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Gary D. Silver upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT 2016
Men at Work Edition
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Gary D. Silver has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Gary D. Silver
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the
SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT 2016 Men at Work Edition; and
WHEREAS, An esteemed resident of Bellmore, New York, Gary D. Silver
graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1977; after graduating, he
attended Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts; and
WHEREAS, Gary D. Silver furthered his education by obtaining his law
degree with distinction from Hofstra Law School, Hempstead, New York, in
1984; and
WHEREAS, From June of 1984 through December of 1987, Gary D. Silver
served as the confidential law secretary to the Honorable Robert C.
Williams, Sullivan County Supreme Court Justice; he then held the posi-
tion of associate at the predecessor law firm, Goldstein & Stoloff, from
January of 1988 through December of 1994; and
WHEREAS, In 1994, Gary D. Silver and his partner joined forces and
opened their own practice, Stoloff & Silver, LLP; in this capacity, he
works with clients to achieve their goals as effortlessly as possible
and finding solutions to their complex problems; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community in which he works and lives, Gary
D. Silver is the President-elect of the Liberty Rotary Club where he is
very involved with an international project which will provide 1,000
water filtration systems to 1,000 families in Cap Haitian, Haiti; and
WHEREAS, Since November of 2014, Gary D. Silver, along with fellow
Rotarian Gary Siegel, visited Haiti where they distributed 100 water
filtration systems to 100 families in Cap Haitien; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Gary D. Silver is a vital member of the Board of
Directors of the Sullivan County Partnership for Economic Development
and the Bethel Woods Business Development Committee; and
WHEREAS, When he is not working, Gary D. Silver enjoys reading classic
novels by John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway, and BROTHERS KARAMAZOV by
Fyodor Dostoevsky, as well as listening to musical masterpieces by
Joseph Haydn; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 32 years, Diane,
and his two children, Michelle and Alexandra, all of whom feel privi-
leged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Gary D. Silver has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberation to
honor Gary D. Silver upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT 2016 Men at Work Edition;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gary D. Silver.
