LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Lauren Payne and Robert Clancy upon the
occasion of their designation for special recognition by the Troy
Savings Bank Music Hall on April 7, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor and pay just
tribute to those whose creative talents and commitment to the arts
contribute to the enrichment of their community and the world; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Lauren Payne and Robert Clancy upon the occasion of their designation
for special recognition by the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, to be cele-
brated at its 36th Annual Gala on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Franklin
Plaza, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Lauren Payne and Robert Clancy, co-founders of Spiral Design
Studio, a graphic design and marketing firm, are being recognized for
their dedication and involvement in the arts of the Capital Region; and
WHEREAS, Together Lauren Payne and Robert Clancy have crafted a busi-
ness which is compassionate, creative and devoted to serving the commu-
nity; under their luminous direction, Spiral Design's business model has
always been intertwined with aspects of volunteerism, humanity and
professionalism; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, their clients include not only the Troy Savings
Bank Music Hall, but also the Albany Symphony Orchestra, Albany Capital
Center, Vicarious Visions and other art organizations that are essential
to the fabric of our community; and
WHEREAS, Known for her commitment to reinforcing the valuable role
women have in business, Lauren Payne attracts the confidence of profes-
sional peers nationwide while fostering trusted and mutual corporate
relations that last; and
WHEREAS, Lauren Payne has been renowned by several organizations,
receiving awards for her original design work, business leadership and
for being a woman of excellence; and
WHEREAS, In addition to co-founding Spiral Design Studio, Robert Clan-
cy is an accomplished author and Tae Kwon Do master, earning his 4th
Degree Master Black Belt; he has been recognized for his countless
accomplishments from business, advertising, historic preservation and
Tae Kwon Do; and
WHEREAS, Robert Clancy founded Chon-Ji Defensive Arts, LLC, a charter
school of the International Combat Hapkido Federation (ICHF) with the
purpose to promote and regulate the self-defense style; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lauren Payne and Robert Clancy upon the occasion of their desig-
nation for special recognition by the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall on
April 7, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lauren Payne and Robert Clancy.
