LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Victor Marching Blue Devils
upon the occasion of capturing First Place in the National Class at the
2015 New York State Field Band Conference Championships

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those dedicated and distinguished teams that are committed to
the pursuit of excellence and that bring great pride to the citizens of
New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the Victor Marching Blue Devils upon the occasion of capturing
First Place in the National Class at the 2015 New York State Field Band
Conference Championships; and
WHEREAS, In preparation for state competition, members of the Victor
Central School District Marching Band rehearsed for months, logging
countless hours of practice to learn new music charts and perfect their
skills; and
WHEREAS, At the 42nd Annual New York State Field Band Conference Cham-
pionship, held on November 1, 2015, at the Syracuse University Carrier
Dome, Syracuse, New York, the Victor Marching Blue Devils swept the
National Class to secure the Championship; and
WHEREAS, The smallest band in the National Class, the Victor Marching
Blue Devils won first place by defeating six other schools from across
the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, The 2015 Victor Marching Blue Devils, celebrating their 34th
season in the New York State Field Band Conference, is made up of 96
students in grades 7-12; this year's field show, entitled Light to Dark,
Dark to Light, earned a score of 98.40 out of a possible 100 points, the
highest ever achieved in the band's history; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the season, the Victor Marching Blue Devils were
undefeated in New York State Field Band Conference competition, receiv-
ing four First Place finishes and one Outstanding rating; and
WHEREAS, In addition, these hardworking students traveled to Ohio and
competed in the Bands of America Bowling Green Regionals against bands
from Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania; in preliminaries, the Band was
named Class 2A Champions, receiving awards for Outstanding Music,
Outstanding Visual, and Outstanding General Effect; in the Finals, they
competed against nine other bands in four different classes placing
fourth overall; and
WHEREAS, No marching band can succeed without outstanding talent
throughout its entire roster, as well as the luminous guidance of Direc-
tor, Eric Everhart, and his outstanding staff; this outstanding band was
also supported by friends, family members and the community-at-large;
and
WHEREAS, Members of the Victor Marching Blue Devils, individually and
collectively, exhibited competence, skill and good sportsmanship while
demonstrating they have an outstanding combination of talent and charac-
ter; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Victor Marching Blue Devils upon the occasion of
capturing First Place in the Small School 1 Class at the 2015 New York
State Field Band Conference Championships; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to members of the Victor Marching Blue Devils and Band Director,
Eric Everhart.
