LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Barbara Fatticone upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the 2016 Community Service Award by
Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the quality and
character of life in the communities of New York State are reflective of
the concerned and dedicated efforts of organizations and individuals who
devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Barbara Fatticone upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Community Service Award by Residents for a More Beautiful Port Wash-
ington to be celebrated at its Annual Gala Dinner on Friday, April 8,
2016, at Leonard's of Great Neck in Great Neck, New York; and
WHEREAS, Since 1968, Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington
has been dedicated to creating a strong, unified and sustainable commu-
nity in Port Washington, New York, and its surrounding areas; and
WHEREAS, Each year, at its Annual Gala, Residents for a More Beautiful
Port Washington proudly honors those individuals who have worked to
support its mission of helping to make Port Washington an outstanding
community in which to live and work; and
WHEREAS, A talented event organizer and planner, Barbara Fatticone is
being recognized with the 2016 Community Service Award for her commit-
ment to bringing joy to those around her; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, Barbara Fatticone has continually displayed a
passionate enthusiasm for Port Washington through her participation in
numerous community activities, including the Red Stocking Revue, greet-
ing Seniors at the Center and marching in the Pride in Port Parade; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this esteemed woman has graciously served as
President of such local organizations as the Columbiettes, Port
Washington/Manhasset Chapter of Cancer Care and the Great Neck/Port
Washington Doe Club; she is also a member of the women's auxiliary for
the Port Washington Elks; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Fatticone has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; she has served as a Pride in Port commit-
tee member and co-chairperson, and is a HarborFest committee member and
volunteer coordinator; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Barabara Fatticone is a Trustee at the John Michael
Marino Lodge No. 1389, Order Sons of Italy in America, and is a board
member at the Port Washington Senior Citizens Center; she also serves as
co-chairperson of the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration and a
Concerned Citizens in Manorhaven committee member; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous awards for her outstanding service,
Barbara Fatticone was presented with the 1997 Civic Award for Outstand-
ing Community Service by the Port Washington Rotary Club and the 1999
Dewitt Clinton Award for Outstanding Community Service by the Paumanok-
Port Washington Lodge No. 855 of the Masons; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Barbara was presented with a 2002 citation by
the Nassau County Legislature as one of the "Women Trailblazers of the
New Millennium" for her volunteer work with Cancer Care; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Tom, who feels
privileged to be a part of her life and rejoices in her achievements;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-

tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Barbara Fatticone upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the Community Service Award by Residents for a More Beautiful
Port Washington; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Barbara Fatticone.
