LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jennifer Rimmer upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by Residents for a More Beautiful
Port Washington

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the quality and
character of life in the communities of New York State are reflective of
the concerned and dedicated efforts of organizations and individuals who
devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Jennifer Rimmer upon the occasion of her designation for special recog-
nition by Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington to be cele-
brated at its Annual Gala Dinner on Friday, April 8, 2016, at Leonard's
of Great Neck in Great Neck, New York; and
WHEREAS, Since 1968, Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington
has been dedicated to creating a strong, unified and sustainable commu-
nity in Port Washington, New York, and its surrounding areas; and
WHEREAS, Each year, at its Annual Gala, Residents for a More Beautiful
Port Washington proudly honors those individuals who have worked to
support its mission of helping to make Port Washington an outstanding
community in which to live and work; and
WHEREAS, Jennifer Rimmer received her bachelor's degree from the
College of Wooster and completed her Master of City Planning from the
University of Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Jennifer Rimmer holds the esteemed position of
Director of Strategic Initiatives and Sustainability for AECOM, a
Fortune 500 global integrated infrastructure firm; and
WHEREAS, As the first Sustainability Officer in New York State, this
exceptional woman has been a leading voice for sustainability, planning
and economic development in Port Washington and the New York region; she
has also held senior positions at Sustainable Long Island, Nassau County
and New York State's Empire State Development Corporation; and
WHEREAS, Since moving to Port Washington two decades ago, Jennifer
Rimmer has been an integral part of the Residents for a More Beautiful
Port Washington organization; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, Jennifer Rimmer has risen through the ranks
from her beginnings as a volunteer to serving in the esteemed position
of Executive Director from 2000-2007; since 2007, she has been a board
member and chairs the Model Blocks committee; and
WHEREAS, During her illustrious tenure at Residents, Jennifer Rimmer
has led many important projects benefitting the environment and quality
of life in Port Washington, including the establishment of the Baywalk
and the creation of the Port elementary schools' environmental education
programs; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman was also involved in the Port Washing-
ton visioning process, and the passage of the Main Street overlay zoning
and Main Street revitalization initiatives; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous honors for her outstanding service,
Jennifer Rimmer joined the Women's Roll of Honor for the Town of North
Hempstead in 2004, and was recognized as a Trailblazer by Nassau County;
she also received New York State's Woman of Distinction Award and
Diamond Award from American Council of Engineering Companies; and
WHEREAS, Jennifer Rimmer has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; she serves on the boards of the Village
of Flower Hill Planning Board, HorseAbility, and the Long Island Chapter

of the League of Conservation Voters and co-chairs ULI's Infrastructure
Council; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, David, and their
two daughters Amy and Caroline, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Jennifer Rimmer upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jennifer Rimmer.
