LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending James Gallagher, Jr. upon the occasion
of his designation for special recognition by the Queens Civic Congress,
Inc. on April 17, 2016
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, James Gallagher, Jr. has given not only of his time and ener-
gies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend James
Gallagher, Jr. upon the occasion of his designation for special recogni-
tion by the Queens Civic Congress, Inc., to be celebrated at its Bienni-
al Civic Luncheon on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Antun's Caterers in
Queens Village, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious event brings together over 200 civic leaders
representing all of Queens, New York, as well as notable federal, state
and city officials; and
WHEREAS, The Queens Civic Congress, Inc. is proud to recognize James
Gallagher, Jr. for his substantial role as a community leader; he has
continuously cast a positive impact on his community and displayed an
unbridled enthusiasm in all his civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Fresh Meadows, Queens, he was a proud graduate
of the first class of the New York Police Department (NYPD) Citizens
Police Academy; and
WHEREAS, Today, James Gallagher, Jr. is employed as the Administrative
Project Manager of New York City Environmental Protection, Bureau of
Customer Services and Technical Services Unit; and
WHEREAS, James Gallagher, Jr. has been called upon to contribute his
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A valued and involved member of his community, James Gallagh-
er, Jr. currently holds the title of President of the Fresh Meadows
Homeowners Civic Association, a very active homeowners advocacy associ-
ation; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, James Gallagher, Jr. is actively involved in vari-
ous Queens Community Board No. 8 committees, and is one of the longest
serving members, as well as benefits Committee Member of the Community
Advisory Board of New York Presbyterian/Queens, formerly Booth Memorial
Hospital; and
WHEREAS, A devoted public servant, James Gallagher, Jr. has held
numerous leadership positions in several organizations including Presi-
dent of the 107th Precinct Community Council, President and Founder of
Blue & Green Toastmasters, Vice President of Mid Queens Community Coun-
cil, and Vice President of the previous St. Joseph's Hospital (Union
Turnpike) Community Advisory Council, as well as head of Lectors; and
WHEREAS, In addition, James Gallagher, Jr. is actively involved with
several other civic and community associations, contributing time,
talent and effort towards improving the communities in the region; he is
a vital member of St. John's University Queens Community Dialogue Group,
and the Queens Civic Congress, as well as a number of Task Forces at
Borough Hall; and
WHEREAS, James Gallagher, Jr. previously served on the Parish Council
of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church and the Flushing Meadows Corona
Development Corporation which later became Flushing Meadows Corona Park
Conservancy; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, this remarkable man serves as an Advisor to the
Friends of Brinckerhoff Colonial Cemetery; in this capacity, he is
actively involved in the efforts to landmark the cemetery; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, James Gallagher, Jr. has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which James Gallagher, Jr. has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend James Gallagher, Jr. upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Queens Civic Congress, Inc. on April 17,
2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to James Gallagher, Jr.
