LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Jim Tsunis upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by The Townwide Fund of Huntington,
New York

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Jim Tsunis upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
by The Townwide Fund of Huntington, New York, to be celebrated at its
Annual Charity Golf Outing, at Indian Hills Country Club, Northport, New
York; and
WHEREAS, The Townwide Fund of Huntington was founded in 1961, by a
group of private citizens who wanted to raise funds within the community
to assist the local charities which make our society stronger; and
WHEREAS, Today, The Townwide Fund of Huntington continues to raise
funds and to infuse local organizations with the support they need to
provide health and human services to the residents of the Town of Hunt-
ington; and
WHEREAS, Jim Tsunis is a 1981 graduate of Bryant College in Smith-
field, Rhode Island, where he earned a Business Administration degree in
Accounting; and
WHEREAS, A successful real estate broker, commercial property
owner/manager and managing member of the Northwind Group, Jim Tsunis has
built numerous 55-and-over communities throughout the Long Island area;
and
WHEREAS, Currently, this esteemed business leader is the principal
sponsor of Eastport Meadows condominiums, Village Vista condominiums in
Port Jefferson Village and Bayport Meadow Estates condominiums; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous honors, Jim Tsunis helped the
Northwind Group win the 2004 Long Island Builders Institute Award for
Active Adult Design and Build Senior Condominiums; and
WHEREAS, Jim Tsunis has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; he is the founder of the Melville/East Farming-
dale Chamber of Commerce, and a founding board member of Long Island
Seaport and Eco Center; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Jim Tsunis is a board member of the Long Island
Children's Maritime Museum, and has also been actively involved with
several charities including The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic
Cancer Research; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Theresa, and their
three sons Alex, James, and John, all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Jim Tsunis has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Jim Tsunis upon the occasion of his designation for special

recognition by The Townwide Fund of Huntington, New York; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jim Tsunis.
