LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION memorializing Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to
proclaim April 2016 as Keep America Beautiful Month, in conjunction with
the observance of National Keep America Beautiful Month

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize official
months that are set aside to draw attention to important and beneficial
causes, and to pay tribute to those who have dedicated their time and
energy to making the State of New York a clean, beautiful, environ-
mentally friendly place to call home; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to memorial-
ize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim April 2016 as Keep America
Beautiful Month, in conjunction with the observance of National Keep
America Beautiful Month; and
WHEREAS, Celebrated each year in April, Keep America Beautiful Month
recognizes the things we all can do to make our country a more beautiful
and better place; the Keep America Beautiful Foundation is a non-profit
organization which strives to reduce waste, prevent litter and beautify
communities; and
WHEREAS, Everyone can make a difference in keeping America beautiful
by repurposing and reusing old items, teaching children about preventing
litter, and cleaning up the winter debris in your yard, as well as plant
a tree, some flowers or even a garden; and
WHEREAS, April of each year is a time to revel in the beauty and boun-
ty of our planet and to revitalize the efforts required to protect, and
maintain respect for, the environment and its resources; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim April 2016 as Keep
America Beautiful Month, in conjunction with the observance of National
Keep America Beautiful Month; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of New
York, and The Keep America Beautiful Foundation.
