LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Peter B. Williams upon the occa-
sion of receiving the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout, the most pres-
tigious of Scouting honors, on March 20, 2016

WHEREAS, Peter B. Williams, through his diligence and rigorous efforts,
has achieved Scouting's highest and most prestigious rank, Eagle Scout;
the Eagle Court of Honor ceremony was held on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at
the Elks Lodge in Middletown, New York; and
WHEREAS, Peter B. Williams is a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop
62 in Goshen, New York; and
WHEREAS, In 2008, Peter B. Williams joined Troop 62, and during the
next seven years, he advanced through the ranks from Scout to Eagle
Scout; he earned 32 Merit Badges and sharpened his leadership skills as
Patrol Leader, Troop Guide and Instructor; and
WHEREAS, In addition, some of Peter B. Williams' scouting activities
and honors included being the recipient of the Orange County Sheriff's
Explorers Post 5110 Public Service Award, the Orange County Community
Service Award and the National Technical Honor Society Community Service
Award and being named to the Goshen High School Honor Roll and BOCES
CTEC Honor Roll, as well as attending summer camp at Ten Mile River Camp
Ranachqua and participating in the Memorial Day Parade in Goshen and
Hamptonburgh, New York; and
WHEREAS, Active in his community, Peter B. Williams serves as a member
of the Campbell Hall Fire Department, the Goshen Ambulance Corp, the
United States Army National Guard, the United States Air Force Auxilia-
ry: Civil Air Patrol and the 15th Cavalry Civil War Reenacting Unit; and
WHEREAS, America has achieved her greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination and tireless efforts of the outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our
youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain her glory; and
WHEREAS, The Boy Scouts of America and its members are dedicated to
the development of character and leadership in the youth of this Nation;
and
WHEREAS, The highest achievement of leadership in Scouting, earned by
only five percent of all Boy Scouts, is the distinguished rank of Eagle
Scout; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young man has been involved in Scouting for
many years, has lived up to Scouting's ideals and has attained all of
the necessary achievements, including completion of a community service
project, which was successfully planned, developed and executed; and
WHEREAS, For his project, Peter B. Williams repaired and repainted
existing planters, and distributed new mulch at the garden behind
Inspire Kids Preschool in Goshen, New York; and
WHEREAS, Prior to Peter B. Williams' renewal project, the planters had
been damaged by the weather and the mulch had started to decay which
produced an unsuitable outdoor environment for children to play in and
enjoy while at school; and
WHEREAS, Peter B. Williams' perseverance in rising through the ranks
to Eagle Scout is a strong indication of his ability to master difficult
tasks; his accomplishment will enable him to emerge as a leader, fully
equipped to meet the challenges of today's complex society; and
WHEREAS, This new Eagle Scout is a credit to his family, his school,
his community, his State and his Nation, and no doubt his future will be
filled with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in
recognition of the significance of this meritorious achievement, to

congratulate and honor Peter B. Williams on achieving the rank of Eagle
Scout; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Peter B. Williams.
