LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Paul Colarusso upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2016 Columbia County Good Scout Award by
the Boy Scouts of America on April 7, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its
citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its tradi-
tions, this Legislative Body is proud to honor Paul Colarusso upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2016 Columbia County
Good Scout Award by the Boy Scouts of America on Thursday, April 7,
2016; and
WHEREAS, Paul Colarusso has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; his dedication to his community and to
scouting has had a lasting impact on the greater Columbia County commu-
nity; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Hudson, New York, Paul Colarusso graduated
from Hudson High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College in
Troy, New York, as well as Union College in Schenectady, New York; and
WHEREAS, As a young man, Paul Colarusso served as a Cub Scout and a
Boy Scout; when his two sons, Paul Jr. and Antonio, both served as
members of Boy Scouts of America Troop 102, he assisted their troop and
supported them as they navigated through the scouting ranks; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Paul Colarusso is President of A. Colarusso and
Son, Inc., (ACS), a heavy highway construction, aggregate and asphalt
company based in Hudson for over 100 years; founded in 1912, it is one
of the top three employers in Columbia County; and
WHEREAS, ACS provides engineering, bridge building, site work and road
construction services throughout New York and New England; the Company
produces quality aggregate and asphalt products that are vital for day-
to-day living in a modern world; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Paul Colarusso, ACS and its 200
employees have received numerous awards in the construction industry and
are proud to call Columbia County home; ACS and its employees consider
community service and giving back a large part of its culture, and
support numerous organizations throughout the county; and
WHEREAS, Active within his community, Paul Colarusso served as a
former member on numerous Boards of Directors including the Columbia
Economic Development Corporation, the Columbia County Chamber of
Commerce and New York State Associated Builders and Contractors; and
WHEREAS, Today, Paul Colarusso's dedication and commitment continues
as a current member of the Board of Trustees at LaSalle School in Alba-
ny, New York, and as a member of the Board of Directors for New York
State Associated General Contractors and New York State Construction
Materials Association; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Paul Colarusso has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Paul Colarusso upon the occasion of his designation as recipient

of the 2016 Columbia County Good Scout Award by the Boy Scouts of Ameri-
ca on April 7, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Paul Colarusso.
