LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dale Ezyk upon the occasion of his
designation as the recipient of the 2016 Business Person of the Year
Award by the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the leaders of commerce and industry whose accomplishments
contribute to the economic health and prosperity of the communities of
the State of New York, and whose purposeful endeavors as involved
members of the community serve to enhance the quality of life therein;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dale
Ezyk upon the occasion of his designation as the recipient of the 2016
Business Person of the Year Award by the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce
to be celebrated at its 31st Annual Awards Dinner, to be held on Friday,
April 8, 2016; and
WHEREAS, The Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce works to foster a positive
business environment in Bethlehem and the surrounding region through
partnerships with local, county and state officials and community organ-
izations, and, each year, proudly honors those in the community, such as
Dale Ezyk, who help to further these goals; and
WHEREAS, Dale Ezyk, PGA Golf Professional and Manager of Colonial
Acres Golf and Learning Center in Glenmont, New York, has been at the
helm of the Center for over three years; his vision, time, and effort
have helped take the facility from a regular golf course to a true
community destination; he strives to teach and provide the sport to a
wide variety of golfers, from veterans to at-risk youth to seniors; and
WHEREAS, Committed to the region's youth, Dale Ezyk recently intro-
duced over 80 kids to the game through his Junior Golf Camp; he offered
the course and his time to inner city kids who would otherwise not have
been exposed to the sport by partnering with Better than Par and Bright-
er Choice Charter Schools; and
WHEREAS, In addition, he donated the use of the facility to a Capital
Region non-profit, working toward building a school for youth in Africa;
and
WHEREAS, Looking to introduce new forms of the sport to the community,
Dale Ezyk recently launched Foot Golf and Disc Golf, the number one
growing sport in the country; both alternatives have proven to be very
popular, and Colonial Acres is the only place in the Capital Region to
currently offer them; and
WHEREAS, In addition to golf, Dale has partnered with different organ-
izations to expand the facilities' use and bring in different popu-
lations to enjoy varying activities; he has worked with ISC-Audubon to
create a Nature Trail within the property for residents to enjoy year
round and hosted Fly Fishing demonstrations in conjunction with the
Capital District Fly Fishing Club; and
WHEREAS, The Center also invited an Astronomy Club to host stargazing
on a summer's night, and collaborated with the New York State Department
of Environmental Conservation to bring in bird watchers; and
WHEREAS, With his proven business leadership abilities and his evident
dedication to his community, Dale Ezyk is the quintessential selection
for the prestigious Business Person of the Year Award; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention it
is appropriate to publicly proclaim and commend them for the edification
and emulation of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations honor-
ing Dale Ezyk upon the occasion of his designation as the recipient of
the 2016 Business Person of the Year Award by the Bethlehem Chamber of
Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dale Ezyk.
