LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Joni and Steven Christie upon the
occasion of their designation for special recognition by Temple B'Nai
Torah on April 17, 2016

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Joni and Steven Christie have given not only of their time
and energies but also of their competence, intelligence and leadership
and consequently have been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Joni and
Steven Christie upon the occasion of their designation for special
recognition by Temple B'Nai Torah, to be celebrated at its Annual Israel
Bond Breakfast on Sunday, April 17, 2016, in Wantagh, New York; and
WHEREAS, Joni and Steven Christie have been called upon to contribute
their time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and
have always given of themselves unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, For 22 years, Joni and Steven Christie have been vital temple
members beginning with Legacy The Suburban Temple prior to its merger
and becoming Temple B'Nai Torah; and
WHEREAS, A Special Education Creative Arts Teacher in Queens, New
York, Joni Christie has been extremely active in all phases of the
Temple's Sisterhood, and has held numerous leadership positions on its
Board of Directors, including President; she has played an active role
in numerous sisterhood functions such as The Sisterhood Seder, The Holi-
day Sale, and buying merchandise for the shop; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her role as a Sister, Joni Christie partic-
ipates on the Temple B'Nai Torah Board of Trustees, and serves as
co-Chair of fundraising and assists with the Caring Committee; and
WHEREAS, Steven Christie is employed with Chase Bank in Greenvale, New
York, and has been involved with the Temple's Brotherhood, and assists
with various temple events; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Steven Christie acted as Master of Ceremonies
for the Sisterhood Auction and the Cantors 40th Anniversary Celebration;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Joni and Steven Christie have stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With them throughout have been their three sons, Matthew,
Brandon, and Dylan; their daughter-in-law, Leah; and their grandson,
Logan, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of their lives and
rejoice in their achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Joni and Steven Christie have
displayed throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Joni and Steven Christie upon the occasion of their designation
for special recognition by Temple B'Nai Torah on April 17, 2016; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Joni and Steven Christie.
