LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the SUNY Delhi National Association of
Home Builders Student Chapter upon the occasion of capturing Third Place
in the Two-Year College category of the NAHB Residential Construction
Management Competition
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Educational competitions which serve to better prepare our
students for their future participation in construction management are
worthy of praise and support; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
SUNY Delhi National Association of Home Builders Student Chapter upon
the occasion of capturing Third Place in the Two-Year College category
of the NAHB Residential Construction Management Competition; and
WHEREAS, The competition was held in January of 2016, at the Interna-
tional Builders' Show in Las Vegas, Nevada; the SUNY Delhi Chapter
joined 53 teams representing universities, community colleges, high
schools and career technical schools from across the United States; and
WHEREAS, Part of the competition involved students solving real-life
construction management problems, and presenting their solutions to a
judging panel of residential construction industry experts; and
WHEREAS, The SUNY Delhi Team's impressive finish in the Two-Year
College category is a tribute to their hard work, perseverance, and
ability to work as a team; these are skills that will serve them well in
their professional lives; and
WHEREAS, Members of the SUNY Delhi two-year team include Daniel Dista-
sio, Henry Hitchcock, Matthew Millham, Michael Weglarz, and Charles
Buys; and
WHEREAS, This momentous achievement is also a credit to the dedication
of the faculty members who were crucial to the team's success; the SUNY
Delhi Team was led by Professor Gary Brackett with the help of Instruc-
tor Alex Brownell, Acting Advisor to SUNY Delhi's NAHB Student Chapter,
Assistant Professor Jared Yando, Associate Professor Alan Smith, and
Instructor Michael Cannistraci; and
WHEREAS, After much dedication and preparation, the students of the
SUNY Delhi Team have demonstrated exceptional talent and hard work that
has led to National recognition; the team members have proven themselves
to be an unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting favorably on
their school; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the SUNY Delhi National Association of Home Builders Student Chap-
ter upon the occasion of capturing Third Place in the Two-Year College
category of the NAHB Residential Construction Management Competition;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to members of the SUNY Delhi National Association of Home Build-
ers Student Chapter, Two-Year College Team, and members of the aforemen-
tioned SUNY Delhi Faculty.
