LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending embraceWNY upon the occasion of host-
ing its 20th Annual Buffalo Brunch, and paying tribute to this year's
honorees on April 24, 2016
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body recognizes the profound impact of those
exemplary organizations and individuals within the great State of New
York which proactively work for the enfranchisement of minority communi-
ties, and the importance of such work for the benefit of all citizens of
this State, and indeed, all citizens of the Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
embraceWNY upon the occasion of hosting its 20th Annual Buffalo Brunch,
and paying tribute to this year's honorees; and
WHEREAS, This momentous occasion will be celebrated on Sunday, April
24, 2016, at Salvatore's Italian Gardens Restaurant in Depew, New York,
with Anthony Chase acting as Master of Ceremonies; and
WHEREAS, Originally sponsored by the Empire State Pride Agenda, the
Buffalo Brunch has been hosted by embraceWNY since 2008; and
WHEREAS, The Buffalo Brunch is an annual event which honors individ-
uals, groups, organizations, and businesses within the LGBT community of
Western New York; the recipients of this year's Community Services
Awards include David A. Rivera, Michael Rizzo and the members of the
Queen City Softball League and the Cleveland Heights Christian Church,
all of whom have played a sincere and substantial role as community
leaders who have continuously cast a positive impact on their community
and displayed an unbridled enthusiasm in all their civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of President, Jeffrey Platt,
embraceWNY is a local, non-profit organization comprised of both gay and
straight members of the Western New York region; this vital association
strives to educate and support those working toward equality for all New
York State residents and to strengthen local groups and organizations
which are working toward the full acceptance of the LGBT community; and
WHEREAS, Through various fundraising efforts, embraceWNY supports
community grants, sponsorships, and scholarships throughout Western New
York; and
WHEREAS, Our society is greatly benefited by the purposeful efforts of
those organizations and individuals who unite for the cause of improving
the quality of life for others, and who proactively work toward the goal
of dignity for all; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend embraceWNY upon the occasion of hosting its 20th Annual Buffalo
Brunch, and paying tribute to this year's honorees on April 24, 2016;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the aforementioned honorees, and Jeffrey Platt, President,
embraceWNY.
