LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute upon
the occasion of being named as one of the "Top 25 Undergraduate and
Graduate Schools to Study Video Game Design" by THE PRINCETON REVIEW

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those exemplary institutions of higher education within the
State of New York for their enduring commitment to the pursuit of
academic excellence; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute upon the occasion of being named as one
of the "Top 25 Undergraduate and Graduate Schools to Study Video Game
Design" by THE PRINCETON REVIEW; and
WHEREAS, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, located in Troy, New York,
was ranked number 18 on THE PRINCETON REVIEW'S "Top 25 Undergraduate
Schools to Study Video Game Design" for 2016; and
WHEREAS, With more than 700 colleges and universities across the
United States offering courses or degrees in computer and video game
design, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has proven to be a truly vital
institution in making this prestigious list; and
WHEREAS, The students at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute are studying
various aspects of game design such as computer software engineering,
graphic design, data analytics, artificial intelligence programming, and
digital animation, skills that form the core of America's 21st century
creative economy; and
WHEREAS, The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) is the United
States trade association dedicated to serving the business and public
affairs needs of the 23.1 billion dollar United States video game indus-
try; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, the United States boasts more than 2,800 video
game companies in more than 3,000 locations throughout the country, in
every single state, and 85 percent of Congressional districts; and
WHEREAS, ESA works diligently to promote the growth of video game
degree programs, at schools such as Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute,
across America; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when insti-
tutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute upon the occasion of being
named as one of the "Top 25 Undergraduate and Graduate Schools to Study
Video Game Design" by THE PRINCETON REVIEW; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York.
