LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION memorializing Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to
proclaim May 9, 2016, as Moscato Day in the State of New York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize official
weeks that are set aside to increase awareness of areas of concern which
affect the lives of citizens of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to memorial-
ize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim Monday, May 9, 2016, as Moscato
Day in the State of New York, in conjunction with the observance of
National Moscato Day; and
WHEREAS, Moscato is a type of white wine made from Muscat grapes, and
has recently become the third most popular beverage of its kind consumed
within the United States; and
WHEREAS, This year marks the 5th annual celebration of National Mosca-
to Day, a "spirited" holiday created by the Gallo Family Vineyards to
honor the sweet dessert and appetizer wine known as Moscato; and
WHEREAS, Moscato Day is a day for all New Yorkers to prepare a nice
plate of fresh cheeses, and enjoy a bottle of their favorite Moscato
wines; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional beverage and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim Monday, May 9, 2016, as
Moscato Day in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of New
York.
