LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Intersolar Global upon the occasion of
celebrating its 25th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those events and organizations which are dedicated to
increasing public awareness of, and appreciation for, the natural
resources of New York, recognizing the role all citizens have in
protecting the environment and the quality of life in this Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Intersolar
Global upon the occasion of celebrating its 25th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, For a quarter century, Intersolar Global has focused on the
technologies and services which make solar power globally successful now
and into the future; this vital event strives to increase the share of
solar power in the global energy supply by creating connections in the
industry around the world; and
WHEREAS, In 1991, Intersolar Global was established to promote the
development of solar technology; at Solar '91, an event organized by
members of the Working Group for Environmental Technology in Pforzheim,
Germany, five solar companies presented their products as part of a
small exhibition with presentations on the use of solar energy; and
WHEREAS, Through the years, interest in solar technology grew; more
and more exhibitors and people attended the event, and consequently, the
venue changed several times to adjust to the number of interested visi-
tors; in 2011, at its 20-year Anniversary, Intersolar Europe attracted
2,286 exhibitors and 76,738 visitors; and
WHEREAS, After its success in Europe, Intersolar North America was
founded in San Francisco in 2008, Intersolar India in Mumbai followed
the next year, and Intersolar China in 2011, as well as Intersolar South
America in 2013; these global events are complemented by the Intersolar
Summits taking place in emerging and growing markets worldwide; and
WHEREAS, For the last five years, approximately 20,000 conference
attendees have discussed current industry topics and debated technolog-
ical, market and political developments at the global Intersolar Confer-
ences; and
WHEREAS, On March 24, 2016, the 3rd Annual Intersolar North East
Conference was held at the Brooklyn Marriott Hotel, where attendance
doubled after it was moved from New Jersey to New York; and
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon all citizens to recognize and applaud
the efforts of organizations such as Intersolar Global which are dedi-
cated to educating the public about the advantages and facts of solar
energy, and envision a solar-powered future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Intersolar Global upon the occasion of celebrating its 25th
Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Intersolar Global.
