LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Timothy Pazda upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2015 Citizen of the Year Award by the
Clarence Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Timothy Pazda has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Timothy
Pazda upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2015
Citizen of the Year Award by the Clarence Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Originally from Forestville, New York, Timothy Pazda is an
ardent believer of community service and enjoys serving the Clarence
community in a variety of ways; he has proudly portrayed the role of the
official Village of Forestville Santa Claus for the past 38 years; and
WHEREAS, Timothy Pazda has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Timothy Pazda is an immediate Past-President of the Clarence
Lions Club; during his leadership, he facilitated the purchase and
donation of two commercial icemakers for town buildings, as well as a
handicapped lift for the Town Park swimming pool; and
WHEREAS, Today, Timothy Pazda chairs the House Number Community
Service Project which provides highly reflective house numbers on resi-
dent's mailboxes, which ultimately aids emergency personnel; and
WHEREAS, For several years, Timothy Pazda has been a key facilitator
in the Day in the Park Independence Day celebration; for four years he
served as the Co-Chair, overseeing the committees for vendors, public-
ity, outside sponsors, and operations; he was also responsible for the
successful addition of Bark in the Park; and
WHEREAS, For 20 years, Timothy Pazda has been an active member of the
Clarence Center Volunteer Fire Company serving for five of those years
as President and 18 years as the Beer Tent Chairman; in 2002, he was the
Chairman of the building renovation and has served as the Chairman of
the company's Annual Fund Drive; currently, he is Treasurer of the
Benevolent Association; and
WHEREAS, In 2009, Timothy Pazda was Vice President of the Clarence
Community Association; he was also the driving force and the co-Chairman
of the Historic Street Clock project which was dedicated to the Town of
Clarence and to the families who suffered immeasurable loss in the trag-
edy of Flight 3407; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Timothy Pazda was a vital member of the town's
Bicentennial Committee for three years, co-chairing both the Banner
Committee and the Heritage Days Celebration during the Bicentennial
Event; he was also responsible for the Closing Ceremony which offered a
unique and spectacular fireworks show; and
WHEREAS, Timothy Pazda was Founder/Organizer of the Chili & Chowder
Cook-Off, which is a popular event during the town's Winterfest, an
event he has helped to coordinate for seven years; and
WHEREAS, Since 2004, Timothy Pazda has served on the Town of Clarence
Planning Board and has been a Regional Director for the New York Plan-
ning Federation for seven years; today, he Chairs the Site Selection
Committee for the Annual Statewide Planning and Zoning Conference; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Timothy Pazda has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Timothy Pazda has been a faithful member of St. Paul's Epis-
copal Church for 20 years, and is a member of the Church's governing
body; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Darlene, and his two
children, Katie and Jason, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of
his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Timothy Pazda has displayed through-
out his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Timothy Pazda upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2015 Citizen of the Year Award by the Clarence Chamber of Commerce;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Timothy Pazda.
