LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Healthfirst upon the occasion of hold-
ing its Community Health Fair on May 21, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the well-being of
the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Healthfirst upon the occasion of holding its Community Health Fair on
Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the Calvary and St. Cyprian's Episcopal
Church in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Healthfirst is a non-profit health care group which serves
approximately 1.2 million members in the New York City and Long Island
areas through government-sponsored programs including Child Health Plus,
Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and Managed Long Term Care, as well as
through private health plans; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed organization's Community Health Fair seeks to
improve the overall welfare of its fellow citizens by promoting healthy
living, and offers screenings in such critical areas as blood pressure,
cholesterol, BMI, and Heart Disease; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the Community Health Fair provides important
information to attendees on numerous vital topics including Smoking
Cessation, Stroke, Asthma, Diabetes, Nutrition, Childhood Diseases,
Patient Rights, and Elder Care; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, residents of the community will have an opportunity
to meet their neighborhood healthcare providers and take part in a wide
variety of games, raffles, and other activities; and
WHEREAS, The Community Health Fair provides an excellent opportunity
for Healthfirst to bring greater awareness to the health issues affect-
ing the New York Metropolitan area and beyond; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an organ-
ization for the benefit of others which Healthfirst has displayed
throughout its existence; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body recognizes the vital importance of the
Healthfirst's Community Health Fair in providing excellence in care
through prevention, education and treatment, and its evident commitment
to this mission; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Healthfirst upon the occasion of holding its Community Health
Fair on May 21, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Healthfirst.
