LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending McGready's Auto Service of Brooklyn,
New York, upon the occasion of celebrating 90 years in business

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize the
important milestones in those businesses within the State of New York
which have contributed to the economic health and vitality of the commu-
nities they serve; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
McGready's Auto Service of Brooklyn, New York, upon the occasion of
celebrating 90 years in business; and
WHEREAS, For the past nine decades, McGready's Auto Service of Brook-
lyn, New York, has proudly offered the highest quality workmanship, and
extraordinary customer service to its loyal patrons in the Gravesend and
Sheepshead Bay communities; and
WHEREAS, Founded by the late Bill Puetz in 1926, McGready's Auto
Service was named after his wife, Agnes McGready; over the years, this
esteemed small business grew and expanded, moving from its original
location on Quentin Road to its current location on Coney Island Avenue;
and
WHEREAS, Bill Puetz's sons, Bill and Joe, learned the family business
at their father's knee, and added collision repairs to the shop's
services; they both worked for many years at the business and continued
to manage operations until their retirements; and
WHEREAS, A third generation has continued McGready's Auto Service's
tradition of excellence, with grandsons, Bill, Frank and Karl, adding
machine shop services to complete their concept for a full service auto
repair shop; and
WHEREAS, Under Bill, Frank and Karl's luminous guidance, McGready's
Auto Service has made continuous upgrades to its training, equipment and
computer diagnostic systems which have allowed the business to keep up
with the latest in technological improvements and fulfill their custom-
ers' high expectations; and
WHEREAS, On May 1, 2016, McGready's Auto Service will discontinue
operations in preparation for an official closing date on July 1, 2016,
after providing stellar products and impeccable customer care to its
clients for the past 90 years; and
WHEREAS, The remarkable success of McGready's Auto Service over the
years is in direct correlation to the efforts of its ownership and
staff, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an
impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the company and the
community it has so ably served; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when excep-
tional small businesses of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend McGready's Auto Service of Brooklyn, New York, upon the occasion
of celebrating 90 years in business; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Bill, Frank and Karl Puetz, Owners, McGready's Auto Service.
