LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Patricia L. and Patrick A. O'Brien upon
the occasion of their being named 2014 Businesspersons of the Year by
the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Patricia L. and Patrick A. O'Brien have given not only of
their time and energies but also of their competence, intelligence and
leadership and consequently have been designated for special recogni-
tion; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Patricia L.
and Patrick A. O'Brien upon the occasion of their being named 2014 Busi-
nesspersons of the Year by the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce to be
celebrated at an awards banquet on Thursday, November 20, 2014, at the
Glenfield Fire Hall in Glenfield, New York; and
WHEREAS, Owners of the Town Hall Theater since 1990, Patricia L. and
Patrick A. O'Brien have contributed greatly to the cultural life of
their community through presenting high quality entertainment in their
lovingly maintained historic movie house; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, this esteemed couple has presented such
special events as "Simple Servants: The Story of the Lewis County
Mennonites", a sensory friendly showing of the movie "Frozen", and a
screening of the local independent film "Get Out Alive", in conjunction
with the Arts Community of Lewis County; and
WHEREAS, Patricia L. and Patrick A. O'Brien have dedicated significant
time and resources to the preservation and enhancement of the Town Hall
Theater, including the recent upgrade to a digital projection system,
allowing them to continue to offer affordable, family-oriented cinema to
their patrons; and
WHEREAS, Patricia L. and Patrick A. O'Brien have been called upon to
contribute their time and talents to countless charitable endeavors and
have always given of themselves unstintingly; they have been recognized
for their generosity in giving free movie tickets and other donations to
local causes, and for their promotion of community events; and
WHEREAS, A member of numerous civic and professional organizations,
Patricia L. O'Brien serves on the Lewis County Planning Board and is a
member of the New York State Treasurers Association; and
WHEREAS, Patrick A. O'Brien volunteers on the boards of Mountain View
Prevention Services and the American Motorcycle Association; he is a
past member of the Arts Community of Lewis County and Central New York
Beekeepers Association; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Patricia L. and Patrick A. O'Brien
have stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Patricia L. and Patrick A. O'Brien upon the occasion of being
named 2014 Businesspersons of the Year by the Lewis County Chamber of
Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Patricia L. and Patrick A. O'Brien.
