LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Sara Fuller upon the occasion of
receiving the distinguished Girl Scout Gold Award, the most prestigious
of Scouting honors, on May 14, 2016

WHEREAS, Sara Fuller, through her diligence and rigorous efforts, has
achieved Scouting's highest and most prestigious honor, the Girl Scout
Gold Award; the ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016; and
WHEREAS, For 13 years, Sara Fuller has been an enthusiastic Girl
Scout, earning several community service awards such as the Bronze,
Silver and Gold Torch Awards, as well as the Gold Award; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her scouting career, Sara Fuller has attended Camp
Little Notch; on a weekend in October of 2014, and again in 2015, she
attended a Stewards' Weekend, where she helped close the Camp for the
winter; additionally, she was an integral part of the fundraising effort
to save the Camp in 2014; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to her community, Sara Fuller offers her time and
energy at the Temple Beth Emeth Interfaith Soup Kitchen, where she does
everything from frosting cupcakes to shopping for ingredients for the
meals she prepares for the hungry; and
WHEREAS, A caring and determined young woman, Sara Fuller has served
as a volunteer for the American Red Cross for six years, helping raise
much needed money for services and collecting donations of items for the
Red Cross' Totes of Hope Program for Veterans in need; and
WHEREAS, This past summer, Sara Fuller assisted the nurses at St.
Peter's Hospital, and recently she became a CPR/First Aid Volunteer
Instructor; and
WHEREAS, Committed to her school, Sara Fuller has worked at various
concession stands, and elementary school functions, as well as helped
the librarians at Guilderland High School; and
WHEREAS, America has achieved her greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination and tireless efforts of the outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our
youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain her glory; and
WHEREAS, The Girl Scouts of America and its members are dedicated to
the development of character and leadership in the youth of this Nation;
and
WHEREAS, Since 1980, Senior Girl Scouts have capped their years of
achievement in Girl Scouting with the Girl Scout Gold Award; and
WHEREAS, In order to earn the Girl Scout Gold Award, a girl must
fulfill five requirements; chief among them is the design and completion
of a Gold Award Project; this project must build upon the interests of
the girl, provide a service to the community, and be of lasting benefit;
and
WHEREAS, For her project, Sara Fuller renovated the children's recre-
ation room at Catholic Charities' Marillac Family Shelter; she first
gathered information from the children, and then she and some friends
painted the room; and
WHEREAS, Sara Fuller's next step was to spend an entire day emptying
and reorganizing two large craft/game/movie closets; she also brought
additional games and books for the children to use and organized outside
groups, such as L.L. Bean and the Pine Bush Reserve, to provide program-
ming for the children; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young woman has been involved in Scouting
for years, has lived up to Scouting's ideals and has attained all of the
necessary achievements; and

WHEREAS, Sara Fuller is a credit to her family, her school, her commu-
nity, her State and her Nation, and no doubt her future will be filled
with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in
recognition of the significance of this meritorious achievement, to
congratulate and honor Sara Fuller upon the occasion of her designation
as recipient of the Girl Scout Gold Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sara Fuller.
