LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Capital District YMCA upon the occa-
sion of being named a 2016 Champion for Children of the Capital Region
by Northern Rivers
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Capital District YMCA upon the occasion of being named a 2016 Champion
for Children of the Capital Region by Northern Rivers to be celebrated
on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Every day, the Capital District YMCA gives its community the
support it needs to learn, grow, and thrive; from advocacy to exercise,
disease prevention to athletics, and footballs to dance classes, this
vital organization truly strengthens its neighborhoods and the people
who live in them; and
WHEREAS, The Capital District YMCA believes that all children deserve
the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve,
under the guidance of caring adults who believe in their potential; and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its core values of caring, honesty, respect
and responsibility, the Capital District YMCA views each interaction
with young people as an opportunity for learning and development; and
WHEREAS, The Capital District YMCA is open to all, bringing together
people from all backgrounds, and supporting those who need them most; in
addition, this organization takes on the most urgent needs within its
community and inspires a spirit of service in return; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, its members, volunteers, supporters, and staff
demonstrate all that can be achieved by giving back together; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the seven counties served by the Capital District
YMCA, nearly 28,000 youth participate in its youth development programs
and facility memberships through such programs as Achievers, Circle of
Champs, Arts, Summer Learning Loss Prevention, Afterschool, Aquatics,
Day and Resident Camping, Early Childhood Education, STEAM programs in
cooperation with CMOST, Youth and Government, and Youth Sports; and
WHEREAS, Over its distinguished history, the Capital District YMCA has
demonstrated continuous service to the residents and communities which
it serves; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Capital District YMCA is in direct corre-
lation to the efforts of its staff and volunteers, whose involvement is,
and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves;
and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Capital District YMCA upon the occasion of being named a 2016
Champion for Children of the Capital Region by Northern Rivers; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Capital District YMCA.
