LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Muller Quaker Dairy upon the occa-
sion of its designation as recipient of the 2014 Industry of the Year
Award by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of business organ-
izations and individuals that generously contribute to the welfare of
the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Muller Quaker Dairy upon the occasion of its designation as recipi-
ent of the 2014 Industry of the Year Award by the Genesee County Chamber
of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Muller Quaker Dairy of Batavia, New York, is receiving this
auspicious award for its success with the Genesee County Economic Devel-
opment Center's Genesee Valley Agri-Business Park project; and
WHEREAS, Theo Muller, one of Europe's largest dairy processors, and
New York based PepsiCo teamed up to enter the health foods market with
yogurt products; this joint venture between Theo Muller and PepsiCo
resulted in a new corporation named Muller Quaker Dairy, originally
known as Project Wave; and
WHEREAS, PepsiCo has leveraged strong infrastructure, branding, finan-
cial capacity, and distribution, while Theo Muller brings in their
expertise of the dairy and food processing industry from Germany; and
WHEREAS, Project Wave hired a national site selection firm to choose a
green field site where Theo Muller and PepsiCo desired to build a dairy
processing plant; and
WHEREAS, The Genesee Valley Agri-Business Park in the town of Batavia,
New York, is a critical component in fostering growth in the growing
industry cluster; it is a full service, 250-acre site designed specif-
ically for food processors; and
WHEREAS, In 2013, Muller Quaker Dairy completed construction of their
facility at the Genesee Valley Agri-Business Park; and
WHEREAS, Today, the impact this project has on the local and regional
economy is significant; from the direct investment, to the supply chain
impact on local dairy and fruit farms, the Muller Quaker Dairy project
has created an abundance of jobs within the park; and
WHEREAS, The largest manufacturing plant to open within Genesee County
in 55 years, the Muller Quaker Dairy project has created a wave of opti-
mism throughout its community and the entire State; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Muller Quaker Dairy upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2014 Industry of the Year Award by the Genesee County
Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Muller Quaker Dairy.
